Idle Hour is peaceful and beautiful
This was our second visit to Idle Hour Farm. It was fun exploring the property. Used the fireplace on cool crisp mornings we are early risers. I was formerly raised in Tennessee. The log house reminded me of my grandparents log house of days gone by ruined by fire. Love pd sitting on the rockers on the front porch. We even saw a wild turkey doing a walk about. We are in our seventies. Could not negotiate the upstairs but master bedroom downstairs was great. Glad to see modern appliances in an old setting. Enjoyed reading the towns history too. Ate at the Hale Springs Inn and also toured the inns bedrooms where past Presidents have stayed. Their name plaques are on the rooms they stayed in. Inn was established in 1824. The town of Rogersville is historic. My parents grew up there. People are so friendly. The irises were blooming everywhere. It was a memorable stay.

Our trip
The property was beautiful, we enjoyed it immensely. It was close to other great experiences . Our family joined us a couple of days and we made dinner and another grilled on the wonderful patio with the beautiful view of the mountains. We will be back. Such a great time.

A Step Back In Time
A historic cabin with all the modern amenities. If you are a history buff this is a great retreat for you! Filled with antiques and very charming. Situated on a 50 acre farm it is a peaceful respite with several old farm building to explore. The host is very responsive and provided several suggestions of nearby places to visit during our stay. I would like to mention however that true to the time period of when this was originally built, the ceilings are low with exposed beams, but for me that just added to the rustic appeal.

So peaceful and beautiful
My first impression when I walked through the door was that we had stepped back in time. My grandparents lived in a log cabin when I was a small child. No electricity nor running water. So glad that you modernized those things. I wanted to just unplug and enjoy the serenity of it all. Glad to see you did have wi-fi just in case we needed it. Only issue for us was negotiating the stairs, we were all in our 70’s. Too old to climb steep steps. So we had my sister in law and myself in the master bedroom. My husband slept in living room on the sofa to keep from climbing the steps. He said it was very comfortable. Our Chihuahua Rose is 13 and has cataracts. She ran around outside like she was a pup. Matter of fact in 3 short days she lost 5 oz. Must have been the sweet clover grass. I can brag to my friends that I stayed in a 1860’s cabin. Thank you so much for an enjoyable trip.
