The best area to stay in Moretele is generally in or around the more established lodges and resorts, particularly those near the Dinokeng Game Reserve's southern entrance, as Moretele itself is a large, predominantly rural municipality.

For travellers seeking a classic safari experience with convenience, staying near the southern part of the Dinokeng Game Reserve is ideal. This area offers a concentration of much-loved lodges that provide structured game drives and comfortable accommodation. While Moretele itself is extensive, focusing on properties bordering or within this game reserve ensures you're close to wildlife viewing opportunities without long travel times to reach the reserve's gates.

Couples looking for a romantic getaway often find lodges within or very close to the Dinokeng Game Reserve perfect. These lodges typically offer private chalets, often with amenities like plunge pools and outdoor showers, providing a secluded and luxurious experience. They also arrange activities such as bush walks and sundowners, allowing for intimate moments surrounded by nature.

Families travelling with children will also appreciate the convenience of staying near the Dinokeng Game Reserve. Many lodges cater to families with larger accommodation options and activities designed for younger guests, such as junior ranger programs or guided walks focusing on smaller creatures.

The best time to visit Moretele is during the dry winter months, from May to September, when the weather is mild and wildlife viewing is at its peak.

This period avoids the intense heat and heavy rainfall of the summer wet season. The cooler, drier conditions mean animals are more active and easier to spot as they congregate around water sources, and the vegetation is less dense. This makes for more predictable and enjoyable safari experiences.

For travellers primarily interested in wildlife safaris and outdoor activities, this is the ideal time. The clear skies and comfortable temperatures are great for game drives, nature walks, and birdwatching without the discomfort of humidity or extreme heat.
