Summary:
HANDICAP ACCESSIBLE. This cabin is DOG ONLY FRIENDLY.
The Quail Run Cabin can be rented by itself or along with the Pheasant Cabin which adjoins it. Even though it does adjoin with the Pheasant Cabin you can only enter the other cabin from the outside. The Quail Run Cabin has a great view which overlooks our large stocked pond and a large field which supports an abundance of wildlife.

A few days prior to checking in, a text message will be sent to the cell phone(s) listed on the reservation, giving you the 4 digit key code you will use to access your cabin. When you arrive, go straight to your cabin (they’re labeled by name), and use your key code to get in.

Getting Around:
Moravia, IA, United States
If you enjoy the outdoors, you will love Rathbun Lake. With more than 11,000 acres, eight parks, two marinas, and several restaurants and cultural activities nearby, the Rathbun Lake area is a vacation destination for everyone.
As the second largest lake in Iowa, Rathbun is nestled among forested lands, prairies and wetlands preserved to ensure the natural environment. Bald eagles, white-tailed deer, songbirds and other wildlife are prevalent in the area. Rathbun is a flood protection lake managed by the Army Corps of Engineers.
Recreation facilities include boat ramps, campgrounds, picnic areas and playgrounds. The Corps has a Visitors Center that provides information about Rathbun Lake’s natural resources.
The Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) manages both Honey Creek Resort and the original 850-acre Honey Creek State Park. In the future, the DNR plans to link the two parks, which are separated by a cove, with a pedestrian bridge. Honey Creek State Park offers camping, camping cabins, heated shower facility, trails and a boat ramp.
Another DNR facility in the area is the Rathbun Fish Hatchery. The hatchery raises channel catfish, walleye, saugeye and largemouth bass, which are then stocked in other Iowa lakes. Visitors are welcome year-round, including large-group tours with an appointment.
Culture and Entertainment
Rathbun Lake is the centerpiece of Appanoose and Monroe counties, offering many restaurants, entertainment and cultural/historical activities nearby.
A few highlights include:
- Honey Creek Resort / Water Park & Golf Course
- Honey Creek State Park
- Nearby historic shops and downtown districts in Centerville, Albia and Bloomfield
-Mormon Trail

Great place.
Myself and two of my buddies did a fishing trip to the lake. The cabin was a short trip to the boat launch. The cabin was very clean and everything was well organized. The amenities that were supplied were sufficient. The staff had great communication with us when we needed it and addressed all of our questions. The only thing that I would say is that the Wi-Fi was a little quirky. For us it did not matter cuz we were not there to mess around on that Wi-Fi very much. I would recommend these cabins to anyone. It's a very cool place and it is especially built for fishing trips in my opinion.
