A fresh clean comfortable property, easily found and great location by the ocean. Friendly staff and other than stairs, no lift, which is usual for uk, excellent property . Rooms beautifully renovated.

Despite the restaurant being closed breakfast is served daily and is excellent. The l staff at the Grey Harlings are excellent and are always at hand should you need anything. I loved the room it was very comfortable and spacious with very good facilities. There is no doubt that I would stay here again and I recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to visit Montrose. The hotel is located close the the Golf course and club house and there are other dining options in the area.

Very welcoming staff nice room with a great view, great breakfast, good shower. Nice grounds with a good covered area at the beer garden Lovely period furnature.

We were made to feel very welcome and also allowed to use the lounge area later on the day we were leaving as we had some time to kill and the weather was miserable. It’s a very homely and welcoming environment.

A hidden gem in Montrose overlooking the links golf course. Small hotel which was absolutely spotlessly clean and very friendly staff. Breakfast was amazing. The only downside is that they don't do evening meals but there are plenty of places nearby that can be used.

Absolutely charming- the way a bed and breakfast should be- detailed decor, wonderful breakfast, friendly staff (the owner served our bfast on Sunday morning), modern amenities, overlooking the 18th hole of Montrose links, with the ocean on the other side of the hole. Highly recommend

Quaint and charming hotel near the beach. Lovely staff attentive to your needs. Breakfast was wonderful. I can’t say enough good things about this property. We really enjoyed it, and would definitely stay here again if we are ever visiting the area.

Very pleasant staff, nice main sitting rooms, bedroom very basic - short on shelves, tiny bathroom with minimal hand grips, no real desk for using computer nor chair, no place to put large wheelie suitcases, mattress not so good. Break-fast good, location on golf course interesting, one good nearby restaraunt (closed on Tues), place is for sale.

Grey harlings is a lovely quaint hotel, room was very nice, clean & fresh, they are only doing breakfast there are lots of places to eat, picture house in town was excellent, roos leap also very good bit more expensive but lovely food.

This is the nicest hotel in Montrose as far as I am concerned. Always so welcoming and helpful. As a solo female business traveler I feel totally safe here.

Over the last 12 months, I've stayed here probably about 12 weeks, so 50ish nights. The staff are amazing and make you feel like your just staying with friends. Very quickly ended up on first name basis with them. They show interest in their guests that you just don't get at other hotels. It's family ran and it really feels that way! Also has a pool table, that's always good!

Lovely one night stay in the area for a wedding. We were afforded an early check in allowing us to get ready for the wedding that afternoon. Nice breakfast in the morning after our fantastic day!

We had beautiful room No. 1 overlooking the Montrose golf courses and the dunes. Well decorated, with a huge private bathroom, albeit across the hall. Very friendly and helpful staff (they readily accommodated my request to store our golf bags over the weekend while we traveled to St. Andrews for The Open). Great breakfast. Perfect location for playing the Montrose Golf Courses, the 1562 Course is as good as some on the rotation that I've played.

Very disappointing. Soulless!!!
Very disappointing. We booked because it had a good star rating and good reviews. We found the hotel soul less. Had to look for staff for anything. No one generally on hand. Given advertised star rating we expected a good level of service. Even had to find someone to give us another toilet roll on first evening!!!

Jubilee stay
Booked just one night here for the Jubilee weekend and we had a really lovely stay. A pleasant greeting to start, our room had a good view of the golf course and it was comfy and quiet. There was a nicely presented breakfast in the morning. Staff were always friendly and we could not have asked for anything more.
