This was our third visit to Old Montrose, we absolutely love it here! The Garden Rooms is a stunning property, clean, warm, cosy, comfortable and beautifully presented, and the conservatory is just wonderful! Our previous visits have been in the winter months, when the gardens were sleeping, so we enjoyed seeing the beautiful flowers and the wonderful autumn colours. The wintering geese on The Basin are a wildlife spectacle and are our main reason for visiting this wonderful place. The cottages and grounds are a credit to the hard work and dedication of the owners and we can highly recommend anyone to book, you won't be disappointed! Grieve's Cottage, where we previously stayed, is great too!

I'm tempted to leave a really bad review so that no-one else will discover this fantastic cottage, and we could then come back as often as we liked!! However, that wouldn't be fair as this little gem deserves to be shared. The cottage is exceptionally well equipped, and very nicely furnished and decorated. Sitting in the conservatory with the sun streaming in, looking out on what felt like our own walled garden was just fantastic. An added bonus was being able to pick our own fruit and veg. Very dog friendly - our pooch would just wander off outside and explore, or lie in the shade in the rose garden. You can walk down to Montrose Basin within minutes and see all the wildfowl (we weren't luck enough to spot the otters). Richard and Elaine are very welcoming. It really was a great find and we can't wait to come back again!
