What a beautiful little historic hotel! The staff were incredibly helpful and welcoming. The historic character was charming. The location was very convenient. We had a wonderful stay.

Absolutely fantastic service and hospitality. They went above and beyond in every respect. The room was comfortable, the hotel secure and safe, and the staff couldn't have been friendlier and more helpful. The living room on the second floor was useful for some meetings we had - not private, but we weren't ever bothered by anyone. The decor and furnishings are very classical. We have only good things to say and would happily stay here again.

Alma is a wonderfully quaint boutique hotel on a lovely city park in the center of the Old Town. Very convenient to restaurants, museums, water, etc. The staff is attentive, friendly and helpful. If you are looking for an authentic Uruguay experience, this is for you.

The hotel team were so welcoming, kind, and informative. The hotel is in a lovely location and the property itself is incredible. Breakfast was delicious and we enjoyed the view from the rooftop and the hot tub. Highly recommend.

I was only there for 2 nights and it’s a lovely hotel, staff were extremely helpful. The staircase and breakfast area were my favourite part of the hotel. Rooftop was great too and didn’t use the jacuzzi. Breakfast buffet was fantastic, spoilt for choice and Nielsen was extremely welcoming. I found the room bare, missing that warmth and bathroom amenities, vanity kits supplied by hotel was minimal too. Wasn’t impressed especially with the price tag however you are paying for location. No bedside lamps and phone.

This was one of the most beautiful hotels we have ever stayed in...and we have traveled world-wide. The Staff and service was wonderful!! The historic setting made our week's visit very romantic and our every request was immediately fulfilled. We arranged for rental car and private parking through the staff, as well as a private brunch and dinner for Christmas Day. Every aspect of our visit in Montevideo was made enjoyable by staying at the Alma Historic Hotel.

Boutique hotel in the old town
Beautiful boutique hotel in the old part of town, with personalized rooms uniquely decorated to honor personalities and local history. The staff was exteremely helpful and nice, to the point of contacting me ahead of time with offers of tours, shows, dinner, extra reservations, anything imaginable. We booked a nice show and had dinner in two very good restaurants based on their recommendation, and was very pleased every time. Breakfast was really good, coffee and eggs made to order, exquisite mini Pavlovas and delicious local Alfajores, all served in antique china, and with all the attention to detail you'd find in a first class locale. I'm sure we would book again when back in Montevideo.

This hotel is quaint and very cute. The rooms are OKD, which is not bad, but in our room, the shower was broken and flooded the bathroom at each use. The property was very clean, the breakfast was excellent, and the staff could not be friendlier or more eager to please. Without the shower issue, I would highly recommend this hotel. Rooms and bathrooms do need a little upgrade/upkeep.

The service here is above and beyond. The breakfast is lovely. The hotel itself is a beautiful small hotel with nicely curated rooms. The hotel arranged transportation to a local winery (Familia Deicas, which I also recommend). They arranged bicycles for my husband and I, which we picked up a dropped off just around the corner, and rode for a couple of hours on La Rambla. It is in old town, which was very quiet but we were there on the off season so likely more to do around there in the summer. Overall a wonderful hotel.

Is location enough?
This was part of a multi city vacation with friends. We chose this hotel because we usually enjoy the “old town” of a city. Though a great location for exploring, I did not always feel safe, the streets were filthy and the prolific graffiti did not improve our sense of comfort. The hotel was great. It’s surrounding was unexpectedly not good.

The property was very clean, quiet and yet very close to many shops, and activities. Daily breakfast was just right with plenty of options for any dietary needs. The staff throughout the property were very nice, helpful and exceptionally professional.

A beautiful property full of antiques that is attractively decorated. We really enjoyed the location of the hotel in the old city. We had a fabulous walking tour of the area. What really stands out about this hotel is the staff however. They are so friendly and helpful.

The understated entrance leads to one of the nicest hotels that I have ever stayed at. Rooms were very spacious and well decorated, and the hotel’s location is perfect for sightseeing.

I am glad I found this hotel, it was such a gem. The rooms are gorgeous and clean, plus offer the guests some insight into famous Uruguayan historical figures. The breakfast at the hotel was also excellent, with the food being delicious. And last but not least, the staff at the hotel all were very kind and helpful. I would recommend staying here if you are looking for a unique hotel.

Lovely hotel
Lovely small hotel, very well appointed. Superb decor. Interesting rooms, each with historic significance and decor celebrating a specific historic Uruguayan figure. Terrific staff. Wifi fine. Clean and with a lovely breakfast, partially buffet and partially served. Well situated for some good restaurants and near Sarandi, the pedestrian street with many shops, etc. Very pleasant experience overall.

A time machine to a bygone era
Alma Historica takes you back to a time before you were ever alive. Old world elegance and refinement in a lovely and quiet section of a lovely and quiet city, Montevideo. The building itself is beautiful and has been restored to marry history with modernity. All the little details are very nice, and the service and staff are top notch. Incredibly helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. Everyone you meet during your stay will thoughtfully try to make your day brighter and will work to setup any adventure you would like in the surrounding area. Highly recommended for a stay in Montevideo, and a great jump off for visiting nearby Canelones. Enjoy your stay!
