WELCOME! Are you looking to get away, to disconnect and relax? Look no further.

The Lake House is a quiet, cozy year round home. Either watch the activities on the Lake or take out the row boat to fish or the paddle boat to have a bit of fun and exercise. Lake House is a newly remodeled 2-bedroom house, with a combined bathroom/laundry room. The sitting room allows you a space to relax. Check out the shelves, you will find some games, or you might want to check out a book. The cozy sunroom has a great view of Buffalo Lake, and a great place to have your morning coffee. The Lake House is fully furnished. The kitchen is equipped with everything you may need to cook or bake a sweet treat. You can relax on the patio, or move closer to the lake, sit on the bench and enjoy the sights and sounds. If luck, has it, you may see the eagle that nests further down the lake. Take a short walk to downtown, visit the shops, or take your picture at the waterfalls, if you prefer to stay close to the Lake House, you can roam the property, hopefully there will be flowers blooming. Check out the metal flowers, the bowling balls and even some cement leaves.... a few things I do to keep myself busy.

The Lake House is not only for a summer get away, but there are many activities to do in the winter months. You can ice fish and snowmobile. Cascade Mountain is a 30 minute drive, a family-friendly resort where you can ski, snowboard, snow tubing with kid programs. Check it out, follow the link.

Relaxing stay

Very clean and comfortable- loved the backyard and looking out on the lake. Couldn’t get the canoe or paddle boat out due to all the cattails but loved sitting on the dock.

Beautiful anniversary trip

We came for our 6 year anniversary and it was beautiful. It’s so peaceful and the host Mary is so sweet and goes above and beyond. We will definitely be back.

Comfy!

Chuck and Mary had the house stocked with everything you could possibly need! They are a quick phone call away and answered a question quickly. The home is beautiful, comfortable and you couldn't ask for better views or location. We had a wonderful time and will definitely be back!

Wonderful in all respects!

The Montello Lakehouse is a wonderful escape from home. The Owner did a superb job renovating the cabin. It is well-appointed and well-stocked with all the amenities! The Owner stopped by and is a joy. The view off the sun room to Buffalo Lake is great. When we weren't kayaking or fishing, we were sitting in the sun room watching the wild life and the boaters. We will definitely return!

A wonderful three nights

Mary's house was in great condition and contains anything you might have forgotten. The location overlooking the Lake and close to downtown Montello was wonderful. It happened so fast that we could hardly take in what was happening as an eagle swooped in and carried off a floating dead fish. Folks in businesses and restaurants were very friendly. We wish Montello was closer to us in Chicago so that we could more easily return.

Fabulous house for a weekend getaway

It was a great place for some R & R. The furnishings are comfortable, the kitchen is fully stocked with pots, pans, utensils, plates, silverware, etc. allowing us to cook our own food. The porch has a gorgeous view of the lake and was a good place to chill and visit and maybe take a nap! TV works well, a/c worked appropriately, water came out of faucets correctly...things I mention as sometimes when you assume it all works fine but doesn't....this house is very well kept up and true to the posted pictures. We would stay again without hesitation

Lake Rules

We followed house posted lake rules: relax, make memories, watch a sunrise, no schedule, take a walk and the list goes on in this inviting home and setting. Sitting on the enclosed back porch with a cup of coffee in the early morning, watching someone cast a line as the morning mist lifts was a perfect place to start the day. Lots of love was put into remodeling this home, thank you Mary, for making it available to enjoy. We hope to return!

Great stay

Perfect cottage. The home was well-appointed and spotless. We had a nice relaxing weekend away in the middle of January. Looking forward to coming back when the temperature is above freezing. :). The cottage was exactly as advertised and the property owner is a great communicator. If in town I highly recommend lunch at Oyster Crackers.

Beautiful Lake House

The Montello Lake House is just as described. It’s lovely—roomy, clean, carefully maintained. We stayed there twice and intend to stay again the nice time we’re in the area.

House on the lake

The house is very charming. For the most part clean. The outside of the house was quite dirty though with grass clippings and webs all over near the entrance. There were spiders in corners inside the house, webs in many areas outside by the door, being someone with a fear of such creatures I thoroughly did not enjoy this issue! If these issues were rectified I would definitely stay again. Beautiful views outside the back of the house.

Great property

Very open and very well kept. Clean and inviting. This lake front property is 3 minutes from main street Montello. Had a great thin crust pizza from Rivers Edge Saloon. Highly recommend. The wrap around, screened in porch is a really nice, comfortable and relaxing sitting area. The bed's were super comfortable and the bathroom had a great working shower and was very clean. Only had a 2 night stay and would most definitely book again if the opportunity should arise. Thanks for offering such a nice home!

Weekend with long time friends

It was a great weekend. The property was nice a cozy. The sun porch was awesome. It fit our needs. We did a little touring. And spent evenings chatting, catching up and games. Communication with owner was great. I would recommend.

Peaceful Lakehouse

Great location with a nice view of the lake in a quiet neighborhood. You can walk down to the dock, where you can sit on the bench and relax. We enjoyed the fire ring in the backyard also. The house is nicely remodeled with beautiful views of the yard and lake from the kitchen, sunroom, and one bedroom. We also enjoyed walking to Montello's main street and the state's tallest tree.

Fabulous Little Lake House!!

We stayed for 2 nights & it's clear this 2 BR 1 bath home has been remodeled & looks fresh! Large kitchen, nice bedrooms, bathroom & 2 sun rooms. The back area provides a stunning view of the lake, nice seating & lovely landscaping. Will definitely be back again!!
