A truly memorable stay

Amazingly peaceful stay at this beautiful grand old house filled with gorgeous and well mantained antiques. The breakfast was incredible, and we really appreciated the fresh baked gluten free bread! The service was all we could wish for and we enjoyed swimming in the pool outside under the stars. Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a break from the city hustle and bustle.

Our room was lovely and clean. The staff was fabulous. Note dear traveler:the Airlies Lodge was not open when we arrived and we banged on the door to no avail. A passerby pointed out that the Monta Villa had taken the property over and was accessible around the corner. Wish Airlies had a sign to that effect. So once we figured it all out, it went well.

Comfort from home

Welcoming, friendly and very accommodating host and hostess,Hank and Marzanne. The guesthouse is a revamped old house with its original wooden floors and a lovely wooden staircase leading up to the 2nd floor. It still has its old world charm and very centrally situated. The huge bed was very comfortable. Clean fresh smelling bed linen and soft white towels. The room has a small bar fridge which will be very welcome in hot summer days. Lovely breakfast with what tasted like homemade croissants - fresh and still hot. A substantial meal, fresh fruit, cereals and preserves as well. Lovely pool and verandah with shady trees for relaxing in summer.

Such potential such disappointment.

Due to Expedia's inefficiency I did not get what I booked for: I booked a queen bed and got 2 single beds - the owner was informed by Expedia that there were two clients coming on the night of 8th November. The room was not completely ready when I arrived at about 4pm and only late that evening I found there were no bath towels so I had to use hand towels to dry off.

Beautiful House

Beautiful old Edwardian style house with lots of character (including the creaky floorboards). Lovely gardens front and back. Pleasant large room with balcony. Nice breakfast.

Alte Villa

diese alte Villa mit nur fünf verschieden ausgestatteten Zimmern sieht man heutzutage nur noch selten. Wir hatten ein kurioses Zimmer, sehr gross mit einem unheimlich knarrenden Boden. Es war keine Dusche vorhanden dafür aber eine grosse Badewanne mitten im Zimmer und die Toilette war in einem Schrank nachträglich eingebaut worden. Das gekochte Frühstück bereitet der Hausherr selber her und an den Wänden hängt, wie überall in dieser altehrwürdigen Villa sehr viel kunterbuntes Zeugs. Es war ein andersartiger Aufenthalt um Jahrzehnte zurück aber angenehm in Erinnerung bleibend.

Our stay at Airlies was lovely. Montagu is beautiful,the guesthouse had peaceful gardens and lovely rooms and our hosts were helpful and attentive. Highly recommended.

Great Place

A wonderful place to stay. walking distance to Restaurants. We went for the Hot Springs in town and found that they didn't suit out needs so retreating to the Airlies Gastehuis was a great thing to do . comfortable surroundings and a Breakfast that was wonderful.

Cosy and with warm atmosphere.

Planed 2 nights in dec 2014 but stayed 3 nights. We will warmly recommend Airlies Gastehuis. Our room in the Annex was very comfortable, nice furnished (no TV),a very nice bath room and a terrace were we could enjoy afternoon sun overlooking the pool and a very nice garden. Breakfast is beautiful and the host and hostess are very friendly people doing their utmost to make you feel comfortable. The Gastehuis oozes atmospere outside and inside and is situateed right in center of Montagu. Would like to go there again one day.
