We did McAfee Knob at 5am to catch the sunrise at the knob, we were at the trailhead in less than 10 minWe wen to Salem, Roanoke and New CastleCommunication with James was easy.Highly recommend a stay here and if you’re into hiking this is a prime location for that!If you make it we left notes on local gangs in the guest book "

"This is an older single-floor motel with some longer-term residents. The room was clean but dated. Fridge and microwave in the room. Walls are thin. Was there a warmer weekend in March, did not try HVAC. Longer-term residents were socializing on walkway outside room, ending about 10pm. With ear plugs I slept well. Wifi was good, did not try TV. No business center or breakfast."
