1. Hotel Cueva del Fraile

Cuenca

"The property was tranquil and located within easy driving distance of the historic Cuenca district. The room was rather stark with a television that glitched quite a bit but we were not into the room that much. Despite the uninspiring interior decor of the room, the beds were comfortable and the bathroom was clean. If you’re not looking for anything fancy or somewhat luxurious, this would be a good place to stay."

"Victoria is kind and helpful and the property is a beautiful rambling half hostel but with beautifully appointed rooms and upholstered walls and a treasure of things to look at in common areas. Beautiful old buildings and grounds. Our shower ran cold to cool and was confusing to control, but it was hot and we didn’t ask about it so can’t complain too much there. Pool was also lovely and clean."

"Maravillosa, experiencia y lugar, y sobretodo la atención de Angélica, la chica del bar y en el desayuno. Lo recomiendo grandemente"

Apartamentos Rascacielos San Martin

10/10 Excellent

"What an excellent find. The apartment is huge and extremely well equipped. Really exceeded our expectations. I would definitely book it again when in Cuenca. It's also conviniently located at the entrance to the old town. The communication with the owner/ property manager was excellent from start to finish. Highly recommended"

Mirador Del Rey

10/10 Excellent

"This place is absolutely amazing! From the moment we arrived, we were completely in love with it. It is beautiful, charming, spacious, spotless, and full of character. The architecture and decoration are stunning—you can truly feel the care and thought that went into every detail. It is even more beautiful in person than in the pictures. The location could not be better. It is literally a 2-minute walk from the cathedral and within walking distance of everything. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect place to stay. And then there is Ana… ❤️ She deserves a review of her own. She is one of those rare people who makes you feel genuinely cared for and welcomed. She is incredibly kind, thoughtful, attentive, and warm, and she went above and beyond to make our stay special. Of course, hosting is a business, and at the end of the day, that is how most people see it. But with Ana, you can truly feel that it goes beyond business. She genuinely cares about her guests, about making them comfortable, happy, and at home. She made us feel welcomed, embraced, and truly looked after. Her kindness made an already wonderful stay even more memorable. Everything in the house reflects the same level of care and quality. The beds and pillows are incredibly comfortable, and the towels and other amenities are excellent quality. Every detail feels intentional. We absolutely loved our stay and would come back in a heartbeat. If you are considering staying here, book it—you will not regret it!"

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Molinos De Papel?

The best area to stay in Molinos De Papel is within the main village itself, particularly around the central plaza and the streets leading off it.

This area is the heart of Molinos De Papel, characterised by its traditional stone houses, narrow cobbled streets, and the soothing sound of the river running through it. The central plaza, often referred to as Plaza Mayor, is where you'll find the local church, a few small shops, and welcoming eateries. It's very compact and easy to navigate on foot.

Couples looking for a tranquil escape will find this area particularly appealing. The peaceful surroundings, opportunities for riverside strolls, and the chance to enjoy authentic local cuisine create a relaxing atmosphere. Many accommodations here offer views of the surrounding countryside or the river, superb for unwinding.

For solo travellers seeking a quiet retreat and a connection with local life, staying in the village centre offers convenience and a sense of community.

When is the best time to go to Molinos De Papel?

The best time to go to Molinos De Papel is during the spring (April to June) and autumn (September to October) months. These periods offer pleasant weather, making it ideal for exploring the region without the intense heat of summer or the cooler temperatures of winter.

Spring in Molinos De Papel brings mild temperatures, typically ranging from 15°C to 25°C, and the landscape is lush and green. It's a fantastic time for outdoor activities like hiking and cycling through the surrounding natural parks. The almond blossoms often appear in late March or early April, adding to the scenery.

Autumn also provides comfortable weather, with temperatures usually between 18°C and 28°C. The vineyards in the region are particularly picturesque during this season as the leaves change colour. This period is also excellent for enjoying local festivals and culinary experiences, often centred around the grape harvest.

While summer (July and August) can be very hot, with temperatures often exceeding 30°C, it's still a popular time for visitors who enjoy the warmth and don't mind planning activities for the cooler parts of the day.
