Downtown Retreat in Restored Historic Cottage with Off-Street Parking
Welcome to your Downtown Private Retreat. Since 2017, we have hosted guests in our one-of-a-kind cottage accommodation. The 1930s stucco home is truly centrally located and entirely restored with plenty of character, inside and out.
Explore the riverfront downtown and surrounding hills on foot or set off on day-trips in any direction. Driveway parking is included. Let us know if you want to reserve that for your stay.
There is a comfortable queen bed in a separate bedroom, spacious bathroom with stall shower, and a living room with twin Chinese lounge beds that have 5" high density foam cushions, a dining worktable with 4 chairs, 2 Mid-Century style chairs, and various storage areas. Internet is available, and 32" TV (with Netflix only), central air-conditioning or heating with a thermostat in the hallway (we need to make a switch between the two though). You will find an unusual assortment of antique furnishings from around the world and an amazing meditation room.
The tiny kitchen space has a refrigerator freezer, 2-burner induction cook-top, deluxe 5-in-1 wall oven, an 18” wide dishwasher, and cabinetry. The appliances have important instruction guides ......OR plan your retreat from the kitchen too!
Only steps out the door, there are many surprisingly diverse dining and entertainment options: coffee shops, restaurants, trails, and other local gems. Visit the international award-winning 2022 Public Library of the Year, an excellent resource with spectacular panoramic views. Grocery stores and laundromat are also nearby. University of Montana and St. Patrick Hospital are both within walking distance. Highway access and airport are not far.
Guests have private access and use of the main floor space via the steps or concrete ramp in the photos and plan layout. The entry door keypad code is changed after each guest. And there is an additional privacy lock, once you are in for the evening.

My wife and I wanted to check out Missoula. The decor is relaxing, meditative yoga style. The house is very clean and comfortable. It is an easy walk to downtown area. We would definitely stay there again.
Had the best time at this darling house. The location is perfect; walking distance to everything! Communication with the host was stellar. Can’t wait to come back! Hope to stay here every time!
Our host communicated quickly and was thorough with information about the place. The house is adorable and tastefully decorated and most importantly, clean. I loved the location as it was close to the downtown and university area. I would definitely book again.
I enjoyed my stay. Very comfortable bed and living area. Tiny kitchen. Friendly owner lives above rental quarters. Excellent location, walkable to river and good restaurants. House faces busy street but you don’t hear traffic from bedroom.
Lovely space with an ideal location. Lots of nice touches added to the very Missoula vibe. Walked to anywhere I needed to, and was right off the highway. Perfect spot to spend my wedding weekend!
We had a great stay - the house was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed, and we appreciated all the beautiful furniture and decor in the house. The location cannot be beat for attending an event at the stadium, or for walking to downtown shops and restaurants. The hosts were also very friendly, communicative, and helpful - they even arranged for us to be able to store our luggage for a few hours after check-out. I definitely recommend and would love to come back again to visit Missoula and stay at this place again!
My husband and I like this property so much, we have stayed there multiple times. We ran out of a couple of items during our most recent visit, texted our hosts, and received a response within minutes of our request. There are so many things within walking distance of this enjoyable, clean, and uniquely decorated home. We'll be staying there again!
My husband and I liked it our second stay here even more than the first visit. Communication with the manager/owner is very good. The house is very clean, the bed had a comfortable, new mattress, the interior is spacious, and the location is within walking distance of historic downtown Missoula. There is much attention to the Asian decor and to the landscaping, making the property a beautiful destination. I highly recommend this location.
The property is in a nice location to get around town. The bed, however, left a lot to be desired. Caves in the middle and woke up in pain everyday. Very clean and modern updates to bathroom and kitchen.
The Cottage worked out beautifully for our multi-generational family group.
We were thankful to have a pack and play for use—it was a lifesaver.
We were able to walk to the farmer’s market, the river path and area coffee spots.
The Cottage is absolutely stunning and serene. We felt we were in a thoughtfully curated museum.
We will be back!
My friends and I had a wonderful time in Lynn's home. This place is walking discance to all the best restaurants and nightlife in town, and is also conveniently located in a perfect place to leave town for all your explanation needs. The home didn't turn into a hot box which is somewhat of an issue during the days which is nice. I would definitely return, this has been my favorite home in Missoula so far and I hope this review helps your decision because I would rebook in a heartbeat.
Perfect location in Missoula. It’s an easy walk to downtown to restaurants/bars/venues/shopping. House was clean, had necessary amenities, and communication with host was easy.
