Watch sports events on a big screen, spot statues of notable Bristolians and enjoy family-friendly fun via interactive exhibits and shows at a museum.

Millennium Square is an urban space in Bristol’s Harbourside area loved by locals and tourists alike for its entertainment attractions. Browse the collection of public art at Millennium Square. Visit an interactive science center and join the crowds that come to watch games during major sporting competitions.

This large paved square has a water feature called Aquarena, made up of jets, mirror pools, waterfalls and water walls. Look for a bronze statue of English-American actor Cary Grant. Other statues depict famous former city residents such as poet Thomas Chatterton, religious reformer William Penn and theologian William Tyndale. Don’t miss Bill and Bob, two lifelike Jack Russell dog sculptures that appear to be swimming in a puddle.

Allow your curiosity and imagination to run free at the We The Curious science museum. Watch live experiments, learn about the science of food, discover how to make a stop frame animation and run in a giant hamster wheel. A planetarium screens movies that explore the solar system and simulate rocket ship journeys. The museum is open daily and there’s an admission fee, with discounts available for visitors aged 15 and under.

Above the building of We The Curious is Big Screen Bristol. It broadcasts daily shows from the museum, Bristol City College and the DepicT! short movie competition. Crowds gather in their hundreds to watch soccer matches, the Wimbledon tennis championship and performances at London’s Royal Opera House.

Another interesting aspect of the square is the Bristol Energy Tree. This 15-feet (4.5-meter) tall installation is shaped like a tree and has solar panels for leaves. It offers free mobile phone charging and Wi-Fi internet connection.

Reach Millennium Square by catching a ferry to Millennium Square Landing or take a bus to Anchor Road and then walk from there. There’s a metered car park located on the south side of the square. Major city attractions are just a few minutes away by foot. Among them is Bristol Aquarium, Bristol Cathedral and the Watershed arts center.
