This darling house is beautifully furnished & we loved the swinging bed. Cookie's welcome snack & fruit cocktail were such a friendly way to be greeted - and she was sweet & obviously really loves what she does. The outdoor kitchen was fun to cook in & had everything that you'd need & more. We enjoyed sitting & looking at the serene views from all of the different sitting areas, & saw the little family pod of dolphins 3 times over the 4 days. The bugs did become tiresome a few times, but then would subside so we were only banished inside for short periods of time - part of being in such a beautiful & natural setting.
We ate at Sunbury Crab Co, a friendly, relaxed experience – good food, good service, great views. Do take advantage of the reservation ap to reduce wait times – very helpful.
Privacy - we're still in the honeymoon phase & privacy is what we value most & specifically look for in our rentals. To that end, a few things to consider:
As noted by others, there are minimal window coverings, which makes the most of the incredible views. Being a quiet weekend prior to the busier season & rain expected on/off, we were fortunate that few people were around & no charters were going out from the 2 docks (the owner’s & the neighbor’s) on either side of the property that face the otherwise secluded outdoor areas. Being at the end of the street it is nice that there are only houses on 1 side, however, with all that being said, it would be possible to have people all around you in busier times.
And, even with specifying our desire for privacy, it did seem that many times I stepped out to the kitchen & someone was very nearby - a couple of times Cookie came over to chat, or see if we needed anything. Between that & a couple of their house windows faced the kitchen with the shades often open, I felt as though we were very less than private & I needed to “get dressed” to go out, even to make tea in the mornings. As well, in conversation twice Cookie mentioned something she’d noticed - for example that we’d seen the dolphins one morning - when we'd been under the impression that we’d been on the sheltered part of the outdoor area & not necessarily being observed.
Overall the place is lovely, the views are beautiful, and I would recommend this casita to anyone – unless you are looking for a truly secluded experience.
