"The hotel is in a prime position on the river Bank and has an older style. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Our twin room had a fabulous river view and was a good size with comfy beds and quality amenities. Breakfast was varied and tasty and served in the panoramic restaurant on the 3rd floor. It was served from 7am to 11am so it was great as we could take our time and enjoy the views. Highly recommended."

The only reason this isn't a full five stars is the more rural location means a bit more travel time to reach — but that's also part of what makes the Douro so peaceful and worth visiting. Traveled with group of 6 - late 50s, early 60s (good physical shape overall)....I will say that there are TONS of steps to get anywhere and if you are unable to do a lot of steps (I mean TONS) - this is not the property for you. If you are able to do steps you have to see this place! One thing that I'll remember is Eduardo helping us check in saying "this is your home for your stay.....treat it as such and enjoy all that the property offers"......The snack bar is meh. The breakfast buffet more than satisfying...."
