About this property

Libby Lane on the West Fork of Little River- Fire Pit, 2-Acre Wooded Lot

  • Connect to the earth at this charming cabin on the West Fork of Little River located on a private, 2-acre wooded lot on a dead-end street and just 5 minutes from Moon Lake Village and downtown Mentone! Secluded but not isolated. Close to everything.

Three bedrooms, with queen beds. Three full baths. On the main floor, 2 bedrooms with queen beds and 2 baths. Upstairs, 1 bedroom with queen bed and 1 twin, and 1 bath.

Fully equipped kitchen Including a dishwasher, a 12-cup drip coffee pot and a single-cup drip coffee maker (more details below). Living/dining combo with a gas-log fireplace.

Great gathering spaces inside and out including a large heated screened porch, covered patio, a deck, a fire pit, a charcoal grill, another deck by the river and a dock for putting in your kayak or paddle board, fishing and swimming.

The living room floor-to-ceiling windows make the cabin feel like a treehouse. Beautiful green all around and gorgeous sunsets. Even on rainy days you can enjoy the outdoors on the heated screened porch and on the lower covered patio.

The only television is in the living room making it is a great place to hang out together and watch TV while playing games or working jigsaw puzzles. There are games and puzzles upstairs.

The TV's Guest Mode is designed to protect your information and keep your accounts secure. All login information is automatically deleted upon checkout.

Libby Lane has fast internet, so if you want to stream on your devises in other rooms, you can.

Family owned since 1975, this is where we raised our daughters, taking hikes, enjoying picnics in the woods, climbing rocks, fishing, and jumping into the river to cool off.

To fully enjoy the property, we have created a circular trail along the riverbank from the dock to the other side of the property then back up on simple stone steps next to a lovely wet-weather creek.

This trail is great for a short hike around the property or for fishing along the riverbank. A morning walk with coffee is very relaxing.

Please enjoy the plants (ferns, galax, wild ginger, mountain laurel, rhododendron) the rock formations (including a tiny cave) and the birds you will see and hear (pileated woodpeckers, red-shouldered hawks, barred owls, and more).

Sorry, insurance won’t allow for use of the boats, but please bring your own kayak or paddle board.

You can put your boat in at our dock, or you can drive 14 minutes to DeSoto Falls, put in and paddle from there.

This section of the West Fork of Little River has a dam at both ends so paddling is easy. One dam is at DeSoto Falls, the other is at Camp Skyline. Our cabin is almost half-way between the two (but a little closer to DeSoto Falls). From our dock you would paddle left to go to the falls and right to paddle to the camp.

Round trip from dam to dam is about 4 miles and takes about 3 to 3.5 hours.

You can also rent kayaks at DeSoto Falls, most weekends May - October. Call DeSoto State Park for information.

    Cabin Details:
Three bedrooms - 3 queens and 1 twin.

Three full bathrooms - 2 showers, 1 tub with shower.

Fully equipped kitchen including a dishwasher, a 12-cup drip coffee pot and a single-serve pod coffee maker. Everything you’d need to cook meals – pots, pans, casserole dishes, cookie sheets, hand mixer, food processor, electric skillet and more. (We cook with our family here.) Plenty of glass and plastic dinnerware and flatware.

In the basement you will find: a clothes washer and dryer, an iron and ironing board, a Cornhole Game, a Large Outdoor Jenga Game (that we play on the driveway), a card table, bag chairs and a second refrigerator.

In each bedroom there is an overhead fan, a small portable fan, and 2 power strips, one on each side of every bed for charging all of your electronics.

A small desk in the large upstairs bedroom provides a private workspace, if needed.

A charcoal grill, and an umbrella table with 6 chairs are near the firepit.

There is a dining table in the living room and another on the screened porch. This allows for several dining options. We enjoy eating outside.

This cabin features all the amenities of home with a relaxed flair! Sorry, but insurance won't allow for use of the boats, but you can fish, swim or bring a kayak or paddle board and put in at our dock! Thirty Libby Lane is just a short paddle to DeSoto Falls.

    Nearby:
Little River Orchard just across E. River Road (They host You-Pick weekends in the fall.)
5-minute drive to Mentone, shops and restaurants
7-minute drive to DeSoto State Park / 14 minutes to DeSoto Falls
19-minute drive to Citadel Boulders Preserve – a "Must See" if you've never been!
23-minute drive to Little River Canyon National Preserve and Center -"Must See"

So many options for hiking, climbing, paddling, zip lining and mountain biking!

Now that our daughters are grown, it is time to share the cabin and the beauty of Lookout Mountain, with others.
