About this property
Mid-Century Modern: Pet Friendly-Hot Tub~Grill~Creekside
Stylish and hip, The Nut House is located in the heart of Massanutten Resort, Virginia, yet surrounded by trees and mountains offering privacy and serenity.
Offering a main level great room with floor to ceiling windows, gourmet kitchen, dining area, TV nook, and deck overlooking woods with babbling creek. The three bedrooms offer the following configuration: main-level, king-bedded master (1 K) and two upstairs bedrooms (1Q and 2T). Linens and towels included.
The upper deck has views of the slopes and a babbling brook running under - it's a perfect way to end a day of skiing or hiking! Seating for 6 and a Weber grill (propane provided). The lower deck features an outdoor hot tub.
Our home is very warm and inviting, with comfortable furnishings offering a classic retro mid-century modern decor. We have had a great time traveling to estate sales for authentic and whimsical pieces that continue to delight our guests. But we have not forgotten modern conveniences...wifi, cable flat screen TV, dishwasher, washer/dryer, air conditioning, DVD player, iHome, etc.
The kitchen boasts anything a chef could need - offering both Keurig and drip coffee makers, toaster oven, blender, crock pot, hand mixer, ice maker, microwave, and Henckel knives.
And we make it easy: house includes all the “under the kitchen sink” necessities so you do not have to pack all the boring stuff. So we keep stocked for our guests: starter paper towels and toilet paper, dish soap, scrubbies/sponges, dishwasher detergent, dish towels, napkins, trash bags, disinfectant cleaner, coffee filters, tin foil, saran wrap, baggies, spices, cooking spray, salt/pepper, and laundry detergent.
We provide linens/pillows for all beds. When you arrive you will find they are all made up for you, ready to go! We also provide 6 bath towels; bring hot tub towels if needed.
One final benefit of renting from us is our 10-page House Info Sheet. It details everything about the house, resort, restaurants, shopping, wineries, hiking emergency information, and more! Whether you have been to Massanutten or not, you will find all sorts of insider information on how to get the most out of your vacation!
Ideally located in the resort, minutes from on-site resort amenities: skiing, year-round tubing hill, ice skating, zipline, indoor/outdoor waterpark (biggest on the East Coast!), terrific hiking, golf courses, driving range, horseback riding, mini golf, racecars, bumper cars, playgrounds, outdoor pool, summer concerts, and more! Some amenities are weather dependent. Please check the resort website for the up-to-date schedule.
The community pool is open Memorial Day through Labor Day. We have purchased the Premium Pass allowing Free Access for all guests. It is a lovely pool with diving board, lounging space and well-stocked snack bar. Not all homes offer pool access, so be sure to ask if this is an amenity you plan to use.
One pet allowed with owner approval with a $100 pet fee. Wown our homes and choose to self manage as we are committed to providing a level of service and guest experience that is superior to any other. We have hundreds of 5 Star Reviews! Fabulous house! Owner was very responsive to questions and requests. House was comfortable and in a good location. Kitchen had everything needed to cook delicious family meals. Scenery was amazing.
The property was just as we expected based on the listing, it was clean and well-appointed, and in a great location for both skiing and the water park. We'd love to stay again!
Weekend stay to see our daughter run Perfect Day 50k. Hot tub was much appreciated! Owner was very responsive and delightful to work with. House was clean, cozy with good floor plan for 6 adults to be comfortable.
We loved our time in Massanutten. The accommodations were perfect for our family and the amenities of the resort were a ton of fun! Proper this property is super thoughtful and considerate to your traveling needs and has everything you need to make your stay enjoyable!
We had a wonderful time reconnecting as a family. There is a lot to do nearby, but when we wanted to get away from the busier, tourist locations, the house was a perfect place to relax in a peaceful setting.
Very clean property; well maintained; all the essentials were there for us. We actually brought more than we needed. Owner was very responsive and informative. Ease of access to the front door was nice, especially for unloading bags/groceries. Would absolutely stay here again. Thank you Jo for letting us stay in your cabin!
We loved our stay! It is close to so many activities at the resort, was super clean, well laid out, and comfortable. The pool pass was perfect for our family of 4. The little extras like plastic baggies + trash bags were so nice to have. We felt like we were at HOME! We are excited to stay at the Nut House or one of their other properties the next time we visit!
We enjoyed our stay. The house is in a great location for hiking in the park. It was clean and comfortable. The info packet was great. Having not visited the area, before it was helpful to have the recommendations and info.
Also, cushions for outdoor chairs are in MB closet, as the info packet indicated.
We were looking for a convenient place to meet and enjoy a weekend together. This home fit the bill, and we had a great weekend enjoying the hot tub feeling like we were in a treehouse!
The mid century modern feel was fun, and I loved how quiet the whole area got at night.
The owner was very communicative before and after our weekend.
We will definitely look into coming again!
We were there for JMU family weekend . The house was perfect , loved how everything was labeled. House was very clean, cozy and loved the decor . Beds were comfy , hot tub was awesome on a chilly evening. Lots of deer , chipmunks and wildlife to watch. 10 out of 10!
The location was very easy to access. The hot tub was on point. Everything was perfect. My only recommendation would be to maybe get a new coffee machine, the one there had a lot of calcium build up and hasn’t been cleaned in a while . Overall 5 stars.
This home was such a joy to stay in and the owners went above and beyond to have amenities to make the experience even better. The only thing I need to let the owner know is that the microwave was not working. No big deal. Would definitely stay there again!!!
The Nut House is the definition of perfection. Tucked in surrounded by trees in Massanutten. The house is immaculate. The coziness offers an immediate Welcome. The bedroom on the first floor with access to the main floor bathroom was perfect for me since step present a challenge. The deck off the back of the house is perfect for bird watching, and breakfast with the locals —deer. There isn’t enough I can say about the great amenities offered, hot tub, the kitchen stocked with spices and other basics. The home is beautifully maintained. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

It’s the Little Things
Little things make a big difference. Provided items like TP, PT and cleaning supplies plus a book of local info were very much appreciated. Small things like much needed fresh paint, thorough cleaning, cushions for outdoor chairs and clean windows would also make a big difference. My biggest disappointment - two of the four large picture windows are in need of replacement - you can barely see out through them. Overall, would not recommend.
The place was really perfect for us! It was beautiful It was clean, the beds were so comfortable as wet the pillows. I loved how you had the television separated from the adult talking space. Not that my granddaughter watched that much TV, but it was really nice so we would have some private time. I think the only one thing I would have different, would be that you would have some rags for us to be able to wipe off or your guests to be able to wipe off the outdoor furniture. Being so close to the trees there were a lot of spider webs which we did not mind!! But we had to use paper towels to wipe everything off and it would have been nice to have some rags or at least identify some rags that we could have used and then washed. Really everything we needed was there it was perfect. And we thank you very much! Maybe next time we'll stay in one of your other homes!
