Fantastic view
The home is lovely. Great views , sunny and warm, quiet with lots of bird activity to watch. A recommendation would be to bomb the house for fleas and clean mould off screens and windows. Other than those issues we had a fabulous time at a reasonable price and we will return.😊

We had an amazing stay in Matauri bay, really enjoyed our weekend in paradise. The house was perfect for us couldn't fault it thank you Ngaere bummer about the swell made it tough fishing and diving out the islands .. will def be back up

We had the very best time at Matauri Bay. The accommodation and the weather were perfect. We dived on the Rainbow Warrior and paid our respects at the memorial, swam in the crystal clear water, had far too many coffees at the campground cafe and way too many pink gins. Thanks for sharing your awesome whare with us.

Amazing location, nice house but a few points before you go
Excellent location for our NY holiday and great base to explore Northland. Note that for this property we needed to bring things like our own dishwashing liquid, laundry detergent, salt, pepper, spray and wipe, cleaning cloths, paper towels, bin liners etc. There is no wifi (which could really be mentioned on the listing) - but we had 2-4 bars of 3G around the house depending on the provider so could hotspot (kinda). Other than bringing a laptop with movies downloaded, hotspotting is the only way to watch movies/TV shows as no DVD player. Otherwise there is just standard TV channels. The corner store at the top of the hill has 10/10 homemade pies and the bar/cafe is great. There is a better store selection at the holiday park shop at Matauri Bay (<5 mins drive) which also has fuel (91 and 95) and takeaways. The beach is stunning and we recommend boating or kayaking around this area. House did have moldy windows, but was otherwise clean. Dropping rubbish would've been annoying if we didn't go to Kerikeri quite a bit during our stay. Apparently it gets quite cloudy up on the hill where the house is but we still got some great days. Would recommend for friends or families.

Miserableness instead of KIwi hospitality.
Looked as advertised, until a closer inspection revealed the mold on windows ,doors and shower base, cobwebs, dirty kitchen joinery, stained cups and just general lack of that clean sparkle we expected. General meanness in what is supplied- 5 tea bags for 4 people for 5 day stay, 3 skinny toilet rolls,1 rubbish bag and although an exit clean is charged you have to remove all rubbish and recyclables. The addition of simple things like salt and pepper, sugar, extra bath mats, hand towels etc. would have made a big difference to eliminate feelings of miserableness. This batch didn't show Kiwi hospitality at its best. I had enquired about natural linen due to health issues and was assured all was fine- everything was polyester so used our own blankets, so disappointing given I had asked. Three of us got bitten and it was only when my daughter found a flea on her that we knew what the bites were. The dryer door catch was broken, didn't realise until Sunday. No WIFI and very sketchy cell phone coverage, communication mostly impossible. No manual for the accommodation or info to show local attractions, such simple things show care and consideration of your guests. Owners need to check on the cleaners and do a before check-in inspection. Feel really let down, was supposed to be a special family time. Location was the only reason we stayed, it was handy to the wedding we were attending.

Beautiful House with a Beautiful View
This bach was the most beautiful place with the best view of Matauri Bay, walking distance to the shop, would definitely live in this spot if I could because I seriously did not want to leave..will be booking this in the future for sure.

The place is nice. The bedrooms are lovely. There was dog poo on the lawns and a few roaming dogs. However they seem nice just a heads up for those with children. Such a shame it was horrendous weather the entire time, would of been nice to reschedule the dates. No wifi so sat inside the majority of time. even the TV was cutting out because of the weather. Definitely wasn’t a summer holiday! Can’t control the weather I guess!

100% we enjoyed everything the home had to offer, Would definitely recommend A+ Little mix up in checking in, house was not unlocked and code for key box was not given. My partner changed the first combination on lock and got it opened. Wifi would be a lovely touch to have.

Great location, amazing views, house really clean and tidy and stylish. Very relaxing place, good yard space for boat. Nice locals at fish and chip shop and bar down end of road. Definetly look to be back.

Great views, good house, bed comfy, complete kitchen utensils. Just a few points to mention, terrible check in, was emailed that the house would be unlocked when we arrived, but it wasn’t. Had to call contact person back and forth, lock key code not working, had to pick up key a couple of houses down the road. Not enough toilet paper supplied, but clean toilet. Not too keen about taking the rubbish to a refuse transfer station. More info about the location of the refuse station would’ve been nice. A map and drive duration to the station would be good. Lastly, wifi would also be good.

Our apologies the house wasn’t open as stated in our email. Unfortunately our cleaner had forgotten to unlock the house that day and the lock box needed a clean because of it’s lack of use. It is now fully functional. Toilet paper issue will be addressed in future. The Refuse station is mainly included for those who like to recycle their bottles, cans etc and is located on Highway 1 when heading back south. Supplying wifi may be a future possibility. We loved our stay at Matauri Bay. The house was in a great location 5 minutes drive from the beach on a quiet street. The house itself was very tidy and modern with a great deck and big backyard.

Nice location for our golf trip
Worked well for us all. Wifi was a limitation given the digital needs of the family, but did not materially impact our experience as we had enough data on our phones 😀. We will definitely stay there again.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the whare. The beds are awesome. We had a beautiful rest when we were at the whare. I missed the small touches like having tea, coffee, sugar, salt, flour and jams like in the other BnB we usually rent at Mahinepua where we normally stay. The only complaint I have is that the house was locked, there was no key and I didn't have internet access on my mobile phone. Luckily the number for Sue was still on my email.
