Room was very clean and staff was very friendly and helpful.

This was our second stay at Maria Novella and we love it there but while we were there there was a soccer game in town, Florence against a team from London. We had a suite overlooking the piazza and for two nights until about midnight the fans from the London team were at the bar two floors down yelling and doing their soccer chants, for hours!! I have never experienced anything like that, there were many police in the area but they didn’t shut them down. Of course we complained along with others but the hotel really couldn’t do anything. I’m not trashing the hotel but you better hope there isn’t a match scheduled while you’re there. The manager actually gave us a bottle of wine and some biscotti, very nice thing to do. Again, the hotel is wonderful.

Excellent staff at all points, from check in, breakfast, house keeping. Room was warm, couldn’t cool any further than about 22C. Window opened, but we discovered mosquitos soon came in. It was quiet and bed was comfortable. There is an elevator, but our room was still down some stairs. Staff carried luggage to/from room and stored when needed. Excellent location, and again, the staff were outstanding. Would stay here again :)
