Appreciate miles of sandy beaches, a quaint New England-style shopping centre and a rich Native American heritage at this Cape Cod town.

Although it has enough scenic trails and sandy beaches to delight any nature lover, Mashpee is primarily known as Cape Cod’s premier shopping destination. Located on the southern end of the cape, this town is a summer paradise but has plenty to keep visitors entertained any time of year.

Mashpee Commons is one of the largest shopping centres on Cape Cod and certainly its most beautiful. Don’t expect a shopping mall the open-air complex is made up of a cluster of buildings in the classic style of New England town centres. Browse its dozens of shops, which range from well-known clothing chains to local galleries.

Mashpee is a golfer’s paradise. Although there are nearly many golf courses in the area, its three world-class championship courses are what give Mashpee its reputation. Hit the green at the 18-hole Quashnet Valley Country Club, the 27-hole Willowbend Country Club, or the 36-hole waterfront New Seabury Country Club.

Visitors of all ages will love Cape Cod Children’s MuseumOpens in a new window. With over 20 interactive exhibits, it encourages youngsters to learn through play. Discover the theory of gravity or make music with the kids in your group.

With over 5 miles (8 kilometres) of beaches, no trip to Mashpee is complete without getting some sand between your toes. Get your fix of sun and surf at South Cape Beach State ParkOpens in a new window. This gorgeous barrier beach looks out over Nantucket Sound and Martha’s Vineyard. Go for a swim, walk along its nature trails or try your luck at ocean fishing.

Explore the natural beauty of Mashpee at Lowell Holly Reservation. Located on a peninsula jutting into Mashpee Pond, this preserve is a serene place for a hike. Walk along old carriage paths through holly groves and lush forests.

Mashpee was long the home of the Wampanoag Native Americans and there is still a strong tribal presence in the town. Learn more about their fascinating history at the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribal Museum.

Unlink many towns on Cape Cod, Mashpee remains fairly vibrant throughout the year. Whether you’re there to shop or sunbathe, this town’s New England charm is sure to delight.
