Check-in staff very surly and unfriendly, and could not locate my reservation in their system, which appeared to be crashed or inoperative. Walls and room floor filthy, paint peeling and discolored. No bathroom tissue or anything else in room. No toothbrush in stock in entire hotel. Overall, horrible.

Location of the hotel is excellent. It is centrally located so food and transportation are easily accessible for hotel guests. However, the room that I stayed-in needs upgrading. Chipped-off wall and ceiling paints, bathroom doesn't have a shower curtain so it makes the entire restroom wet. The bathroom tiles are old and dirty-looking because of the missing grout on some parts of the walled tiles. Good thing they have a comfortable bed so I was able to sleep despite the hotel's noisy air-conditioning system.

Family of 5 adults - stayed for 1 night
A family of 5 adults but we received only 1 very small roll of toilet paper so I asked for more but we had to pay for additional. There were only 2 drinking glasses in the room and I received a bill for bottles of water that I did not order nor receive. The aircon was broken, it was freezing cold so we tried to adjust the temperature, the aircon thermometer showed 27 degrees but the real temperature in the room was about 16 degrees. There were loud disturbing noises in the corridor that sounded every hour i think, if not less. The sounds from other guests in the corridor were also very disturbing.

I feel bad leaving a terrible review because they let us check in super early to leave our luggage and head out to the reef. But, it was really bad. There was mold growing feet down from the a/c and the walls were peeling and yellowed. It was so loud too, during the day from kids screaming in the hallway and at night for some sort of intervention happening a few doors up. I should have figured since it was so cheap, but I wanted to be near the bank, port, and mangroves. It's easy to get around on triciclos, so I encourage you to book elsewhere knowing transportation will not be a problem.

Reasonable value
Rooms are not cleaned during the stay. No sound proofing . Some smoking in corridor. Although the room was a good size and comfortable it is good value for the centre city area.

The room A/C froze up so room was hot for about 8 hours while the block of ice melted on A/C. Shower had mold on grout in shower. Also hotel WiFi did not work in room. And cell service was poor in room because of concrete walls. Hotel was safe and staff was very friendly.

Clean wide space
Place is central to most establishments in the city like fastfood joints, banks, grocery store etc. Trikes provide the ideal mode of transportation. Rooms are spacious but could be improved by adding wifi rather than walking to the lobby to get a connection.

A good hotel, good location
The Asia Novo hotel is a budget property located in the center of Masbate City about 1 km from the port. The staff was accommodating and pleasant. Like the other hotels in Masbate, Asia Novo could shine if they just polished the property a bit. In general, it's a good place to sleep. It was reasonably clean and quiet. The window had no view, and opened into a shaft that opened to the outside. All in all, our stay was good. If the property owners upped their game just a bit, it could be a great property and easily be the best hotel in town.

Strategically located but needs upgrade
During the first day, the room smells not ok and I saw a small mouse ran under the bed. They did something about it after we reported to the receptionist. On the 3rd night, I saw and kill a cockroach in the bathroom. Good thing, there's only one. We usually request hot cup of water. The mugs used usually are chipped or cracked. The hotel was fully booked during our stay, the utility could hardly caught up with the demands but they're accommodating with our requests.

Lack of money being spent on this Island and its infrastructure limits the type of accommodation available. But for the price and its proximity to everything you need it suited my purpose. Front office staff very pleasant and a joy to deal with.

Going in Dec./ Jan was not ideal as it is still wet season, but not everyday was wet. Overall my stay was pleasant , Novo is just an average type of hotel with just the basics bed and bathroom. Staff were good and most spoke and understood English well enough. It is in a convenient location in the city with walking distance to most places and restaurants. Novo is just a 2 at best 2.5 star so if you are on a budget it is good

CAN NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL TO ANYONE!
I booked this appointment for my Philippino lady that had to travel to Masbate on business. I told her not to worrying about hotel arrangements so I booked well in advance through Expedia. She had been to Mastbate in the past and had stayed at another hotel that was very very BAD! Even though you did not have any reviews to date on this hotel it seemed like the best place in this town. Well, she arrived and the staff was friendly but told here the elevator was broken and she had a room on the 4th floor. I had requested a ground floor away from traffic and was told that would be done. The elevator was never fixed in her two day stay there although a staff member was helpful in carrying her bags up to the room. But then she finds that there is NO coffee available in the room or anywhere at the front desk. Then went to the toilet and found NO - yes I said NO toilet tissue!! Fortunately she had brought her own tissue but if NOT what would she have done!!! This is totally unacceptable and a health hazard - how is this possible for a hotel to operate this way???????????? Also, no restaurant on the premises - only McDonalds and JollyBees, which are not healthy type food places. She wanted some good soup and nourishing food for her long journey from Dumaguete City - overnight stay in Manila and then a short flight to Mastbate. She will be traveling there in the next few months - my question how can I tell her to go back this hotel. The positive aspects were: AC worked;
