Great location for southern New River Gorge NP, clean comfortable & private … well equipped, owner was responsive…. would stay again & highly recommend…. We will miss the river & the trains!
Mary's Place is a cozy, lovely home to stay in with family. It has everything you need. Meadow Creek is a quiet, little community that ranks among my favorite places to stay.
Highly recommend. It’s cozy, comfortable, and right on the river. The only downside is being so close to the train, but it was otherwise quite perfect!
The check in process was easy and the place was great. We did have to leave a day early because of high water and a mud slide near by but the kids loved the environment and this place was a huge blessing for us.
Great location, loved the property and the view of the river. The multiple trains being just 40 yards from the track was a ittle noisy . That being said I would stay there again.
Visited sandstone falls, walked the cat walk on New River Bridge, Took a ride thru coal mine in Beckley & spent time relaxing in Mary's place having campfires & enjoying our coffee looking out at river. Highley recommend. We had a fabulous time
Four friends enjoyed a relaxing, comfortable 3 night stay midweek. Lovely, clean and comfortable. Nicely appointed property. We had everything we needed.
I think this place would be perfect, no matter what time of year. If you're looking for a place to relax and enjoy the scenery, this is it. Many state parks just a short but beautiful drive away.
The owners were great and very responsive. The home was clean and comfy.
We really enjoyed being right on the river and even saw a river otter swim by. The property was clean and as pictured. The trains were louder than we expected but it did not change our opinion of the house and would not hesitate to go back.
Our week stay at this amazing cottage was a truly relaxing experience. From the moment we arrived, we felt at home. The cottage was perfect, blending rustic charm with modern comfort. It was cozy and clean; and equipped with all the amenities we needed.Amy’s hospitality was exceptional. She ensured we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We left feeling completely refreshed and cannot wait to return when we are back in the area.
We had a great stay at the cabin! It was nice to be able to go down to the river anytime. We had a minor issue with the A/C not working and the hosts were super nice about it. Even came late at night to see if they could fix it. I’d definitely stay here again.
The home itself is nice, roomy and clean. The river is very calming. If you don't care for trains running, not the place for you. Myself, I loved hearing the whistles.
This nice size home was tucked along the river which made for great views and close to parks we hiked and white water rafting. Owners were easily reached when needed. My only things was /is if you are a light sleeper this home is right next to a very busy railroad track that runs even in the middle of the night/morning. Overall very nice stay!
It was lovely, except for the noise from the train. It comes at various times of the day and night and is very loud. We lived the view, it was comfortable and the hosts were fabulous. We were just not used to trains and especially that close to the property. Some people may get used to it…. But for the older crowd , I’d look for a more quiet spot. Overall, I’d give it a 4 out of 5.
Our family enjoyed staying here while visiting the New River Gorge National Park. We were very close to the Sandstone Visitor Center and used this as our base to visit Grandview, Sandstone Falls, Beckley Coal Mine Exhibition, and drove about 45 minutes to the Canyon Rim Visitor Center. The house was spacious and had everything we needed. The view of the river is wonderful. As other reviewers mentioned the railroad tracks are right behind the house. We did hear the trains but we still slept well.
What a find for our long weekend getaway! The house was everything we needed for our party of 5. Plenty of space, comfy beds, nice hot water for showers and very welcoming decor. The kitchen has a great variety of appliances for meal preparation. Expect to drive at least 20-30 min to find a restaurant. The trains were active during our stay. By the 3rd night, we had had enough. If you're a light sleeper or appreciate sleeping through the night undisturbed this is the property isn't for you even though it was very fun for our 4 year old to watch them every time they went by. Us adults loved watching the river flow by even though it was a bit chilly. Nicely located to take advantage of skiing, hiking and just taking in nature. I'm sure it's beautiful during the other seasons too.
