We had a wonderful time, came to ride bikes and trail was just down the road from the cabin. Rode into nearby town for lunch and dinner. Cabin was well stocked and clean. Only drawback was no AC but we knew that going into the trip.
Definitely worth the stay if you’re looking for off the grid .. no cell phone and hiking, biking and nights by the fire. Definitely a needed break from the every day hustle bustle.
The cottage was peaceful and quiet, warm and inviting, exactly what I had hoped when I booked a last-minute two-night trip for my partner and I. We appreciated having the parking area shoveled and the heater going when we arrived. Furniture was sparse (no couch or comfy chairs), but we had plans that kept us outdoors much of the weekend. The kitchen was stocked with cooking utensils, a coffee maker, and a small fridge, which made dining-in easy - just be aware that the smoke detector is very sensitive (it went off several times while we were cooking some stir-fry) but I was relieved to know that it worked. We couldn't locate the trash-bags for the kitchen trashcan, but improvised with plastic shopping bags. The cottage is conveniently close to town, but also feels secluded, and we enjoyed watching herds of deer pass by in the mornings. It felt intimate and cozy, just perfect for 1-2 people.
Check-in went smoothly. The property manager answered us promptly and addressed all concerns. The cabin is small but beautiful. The appliances worked very well. The solar/propane systems worked seamlessly. A great wood stove, with much seasoned firewood cut to fit. The “neighborhood”? Quiet, safe, with the Allegheny Trail and Greenbriar River, and the town of Marlinton nearby for necessities. But a very dusty road. There is no access from the road to the cabin which was not mentioned in the listing. The first 12 feet down were steep for anyone over 50. We are 80 and had difficulty getting our stuff down and especially up again. Fortunately we are healthy.
Beautifully built cabin with knotty pine walls throughout. We had some very cold nights, but the propane heater kept the entire cabin toasty warm. Be sure to keep the living room fan on to circulate the heat. We were disappointed in the bed. It was low to the ground and made loud noises when turning or getting up. The bath mat in the shower needed replacing as it was moldy. Be sure to take bottled water unless you like brown water with iron in it. The driving sight-seeing around it is fantastic. We loved being off the grid for 4 days at the cabin, but wifi access was only a short distance away. We were pleased that it was a pet-friendly place. Our dog enjoyed his long walks along the Greenbrier Trail which is behind the cabin. Overall this is a neat cabin in a lovely setting.

Furniture
The cabin was lovely and very clean. The problem was with the "living area" furniture. There were two rocking chairs, one of which the leg was broken and 4 child size chairs at the table. The only other sitting area was a beautifully carved but very hard and uncomfortable bench. There was a badly burned skillet and only one large pot for cooking, another smaller one would have been nice and no bowls at all. The river could barely be seen through the trees and there was no ACCESSABLE path at all from the cabin. Actually, there was a drop off. It was quiet and clean and we enjoyed the chairs for the front porch. I hope you fix these problems for the next clients.
My wife and I live in Pennsylvania and we had never before vacation in West Virginia. Although it was a 7 Hour Dr. from our home to Marlington, we stayed in a very lovely small log cabin with solar power, and propane. The property was clean very well appointed, all linens and towels were provided for us. If I had to say one thing, I would ask they they get a slightly larger refrigerator. We were celebrating my wife’s birthday and I would love to have gotten an ice cream cake. , all linens and towels were provided for us. If I had to say one thing, I would ask that they get a slightly larger refrigerator. We were celebrating my wife’s birthday and I would love to have gotten an ice cream cake at The Dairy Queen in town, but it would not fit in the freezer. Also, a slightly more comfortable couch would’ve been really nice but overall we had an amazing time and if not for the 7 Hour drive, I would not hesitate to go back.
We loved the cabin! Its location was right in the middle of a lot of the parks and other attractions within a reasonable drive. Would recommend this cabin to anyone, and vacationing in the southeastern part of West Virginia.
It’s a cozy cabin near the Greenbrier trail. You can bike to the trail which is very close. We rode our bikes into town to eat. The cabin was beautiful with the fall foliage and we stayed nice and warm with the heater. It was wonderful to unplug and just be present and enjoy the beautiful weather. We brought a free-standing hammock and looked at the stars at night. The bed was very comfortable and just what we needed after a long bike ride. We would definitely stay here again!
The cabin is nice-but if you are relying on cell phone service to check anything while you are gone, don't depend on it. It is pretty small, so really couple and one kid would fit comfortably. It is pretty private for the most part, but there is a road directly behind the cabin, and that trail is right in front. The cabin was clean, when we had an issue with the propane heater we contacted the person from the email and she was responsive. The kitchen is small, and there is only a mini fridge, so you should probably bring a cooler for the porch for long stays. The local library has free wifi, and is pretty close if you need, and they were nice enough to loan us some movies to watch on the computer for the weekend. Cute small town, great outdoors activities nearby.

We loved the little cabin. It's a bit cozy for 4 adults. Limited seating. If you're planning on cooking your meals, fridge size and kitchenware aren't very accommodating. Would recommend some more pots added. There wasn't any hot pads. We made use of a towel. Grass wasn't mowed. There was no extra key for emergency use and lock wasn't working properly on the door. Otherwise, the secluded location was perfect and quiet.
It was a beautiful property. Only a few concerns there was no hot water at any point. It was really upsetting after spending a whole day being active that I could not take an actual shower. That was the biggest issue. The other issue was needing a new lighter would help.
