Beautiful comfortable retreat
We are a traveling trio of 2 sisters and 1 lifelong friend -- we have done cruises and national parks and interesting cities together. We were in the area to visit Yosemite and wanted a nice comfortable place to stay. This Oaks and Pines cabin was perfect, complete with the promised "meandering deer". In fact one meandered right up to the back deck to munch on a plant. LOL The cabin was comfortable, kitchen stocked with staples -- close to Mariposa with nice grocery and several good places to eat. Our only issue was a malfunction on the Amazon Fire stick, called Alex and Kathleen and was immediately taken care of by their son. ;-) If you want a quite, beautiful retreat this is your place -- highly recommed.

Winter’s stay
This is our third stay at this comfortable cabin, in a quiet wooded hillside. One hour’s drive to Yosemite Valley (El Portal entrance). Nice amenities - hot tub, wood burning fireplace (wood stove), kitchen that opens to the dining and living area, high ceilings. Great for a cozy winter stay! Great communication with the host.

Awesome place! In the middle of no were but perfect for visiting Yosemite. The kitchen is equipped with most everything, which is what we want - we don't care to eat out while on vacation and hiking. The deck needs some maintenance but other than that it was clean and comfortable. I would stay here again if we are ever in the area.

We LOVED this property!! My kids didn’t want to leave. It had everything you could want!! Cozy beds great kitchen! A lot of room!! Very clean! It was great having laundry after long hikes at Yosemite. Yosemite is about a 45 minute drive but it wasn’t bad. Grocery store was close. I highly recommend! It was very peaceful!!

Yosemite Visit
Our family stayed in the property as a base for visiting Yosemite. Excellent property and great location to do day trips to the park, which was about an hour to Yosemite Valley. We enjoyed the seclusion of the home but also were able to go into Mariposa to eat at some excellent restaurants. Very friendly and responsive hosts. Highly recommend this property.

Great Getaway
Pretty amazing remote place. Quiet. The only questionable aspect of the property was the bedroom. Difficult to sleep in with a skylight over the bed. Also, the bed had a mattress topper that made it too soft for our liking.Responsive host.

Family Getaway
Enjoyed the 3-day weekend with my adult kids in this hidden gem in the Sierras. Property is lovely with amazing country roads and ponds. Close to Yosemite and Bass Lake. I could just hang out on the deck all morning!

Pleasant Stay
This was our second time staying here, and it was just as nice as our first. The host Kathleen was very communicative, helpful and accommodating from the beginning. The place is well-kept, stocked with the essentials, and situated in a nice natural area that is perfect for a relaxing family get-away. We hope to return again soon!

Unforgettable winter retreat

Wonderful winter trip
This was a return trip to this property - again, a perfect stay. Great communication with the owner, very comfortable, well appointed mountain home. We enjoyed the hot tub even in the rain, and relaxing by the fire inside, as well as a winter visit to Yosemite (45 min drive away).

Quiet, Relaxing Getaway
This was a return trip for me to this wonderful, and relaxing property. I loved waking up to find deer and turkey roaming about the yard, and soaking in the hot tub watching the stars just before bed. Just an hour drive away, I experienced a snowy and serene Yosemite. Looking forward to my next visit!

A Nice Place for Families to Stay in the Yosemite Area
This was a great place for my family to stay while visiting Yosemite National Park. Kathleen was very friendly and helpful. She always responded promptly to any messages I sent her and she made sure I knew when to reserve our entry passes for Yosemite. The house was very clean with plenty of soft clean towels and little bars of soap like you’d fine at a nice hotel. The master bedroom has a skylight that lets you see the stars at night while you’re lying in bed and the natural sunlight streaming through in the morning is a great way to wake up for an early start so that you can get into Yosemite early and find parking. The location is great too. It’s a short drive from Mariposa, where you can go for groceries or a nice dinner out. There’s lots of wildlife around the house. We saw deer, quail, turkeys, and a family of acorn woodpeckers. If you’re looking to spend time in the Yosemite area, this is a great place to do it.

Great place to stay while visiting Yosemite. Property provides privacy and a great view of nature. Kitchen is well stocked with most condiments you would need. Hot tub is a great way to relax after a day of hiking.

Wonderful Stay in Mariposa
This was a great home base for our group to relax in before and after our days in the park and hiking Half Dome. Outside of the park, the location is about as good as it gets (roughly 1 hour from Yosemite Valley) and is about 15 min from the town of Mariposa. Kathleen was very communicative and left helpful notes around the house that were super helpful. We would definitely stay here again on future trips to the Sierras!

Great Yosemite visit!
We had a great stay. It was a beautiful drive to Yosemite and a great secluded location. Mariposa was a short drive and had some great dining options. The beds were super comfortable after long days of hiking! The owners were incredibly responsive and I would highly recommend!

Relaxing after long day of hiking
Beautifully secluded home about an hour from Yosemite. Kitchen is well supplied with dishes, cookware and condiments. Has a hot tub to relax in after long day of hiking. The nearby town of Mariposa has friendly shops and good restaurants. Overall a wonderful experience.

Nice charming house in the rolling hills of the Eastern Sierra’s.
Very spacious charming house. Property manager was nice and responsive. Lovely views and animals all around the house. Only a 40 drive from the west entrance of Yosemite. Only negs were the jets don’t really work in the hot tub but the hot tub is nice. Is the guest bedroom there is a set of stairs to the attic and a close inch gap between the wall and the ceiling so you can see into the attic which is a little unsettling when trying to sleep. But still a great house and would rent again!

Perfect location
I only wish we could have spent more time at the property. We were in town to transition our daughter into her new position at Yosemite. Her housing assignment took way more time than we expected, so we were not able to spend as much time at Pine Canyon as we would have in other circumstances. Enjoyed the wildlife (in the yard) and the comfy accommodations. Hosts thought of everything to make it an enjoyable retreat. Thank you for sharing!

Fantastic Winter Stay!
Wonderful cozy and bright cabin. We got lucky and arrived to fresh snow for our New Years trip, which made visits to Yosemite especially beautiful. We got to play in the snow at the cabin, enjoyed the hot tub, and relaxed in the open floor plan watching football with the fire going. Great communication from the hosts, clean and comfortable cabin.

First off a shout out to Kathleen for being so easy to communicate with and for checking in on us regularly. We were snowed in during our visit, but thankfully the power never went out. The house is comfortable, warm, with a well equipped kitchen, a fireplace with plenty of wood available and a great hot tub. Add to it a snow shovel, beautiful, quiet surroundings and the snowman and igloo construction began. If you come in the winter and the forecast calls for snow, bring a lot of food and games and a willingness to snowball fight. In that case, this home is perfect!

Beautiful and serene
If you are seeking a quiet, remote experience in a simple but elegant space I highly recommend this property. The setting, south of Yosemite is park-like, with plenty of walking/hiking options, visits from deer, squirrels, turkeys, quail and other wildlife. The owners clearly enjoy hosting, manifested in the attention to details throughout the home. Kathleen is one of the best communicators I've encountered with VRBO properties. We'll be back.

Beautiful Home Near Yosemite
I had a wonderful time just relaxing in this quiet and beautiful place. Visited Yosemite a couple of times for some awesome hiking and amazing views to come back to the house and sit in the spa underneath the stars. It was amazing, and I hope to be back in the future!

Lovely home in the oaks
We enjoyed our stay in this lovely private home in the oaks. It was spacious, well equipped for a quiet stay just near enough to Yosemite. The home has wonderful deck space with views of the large front yard trees with fall foliage. Daily visits from multiple deer and a parade of turkeys added to the enjoyment. Would highly rate this property.

Gorgeous home close to Yosemite
We loved our stay - it was a beautiful, spacious property with lots of amenities. We loved seeing the deer wandering around the property during the day, and made great use of the hot tub after a long day of hiking in Yosemite. I'd highly recommend and would definitely go back!

Fantastic Father/Son Getaway
From the moment we booked til check out, our hosts were nothing but accommodating. The property was excellent and allowed us a wonderful place to unwind after the rigors of our climbing and hiking throughout our stay. From the peaceful mornings drinking coffee on the porch surrounded by hummingbirds and deer, to the sunsets in the hot tub soaking our tired muscles, we couldn't have asked for a better place to hang our hats.

Beautiful, tranquil property
As we pulled into the driveway of the property and saw a deer laying in under a tree, we knew we choose the right place. If you're looking for a place to get away from others and just enjoy nature, this is the right place. Everything about it was beautiful. The house is fully outfitted with everything you need. One of the reasons we chose this property was because we wanted something remote with air conditioning. When we were there, the temperatures were right around 100, so we were very happy with how well the air conditioning worked. We met the neighborhood dog, Abbey. She was super friendly and persistent with her desire to fetch pinecones. We had one small issue when we came back from the park, where the internet wasn't working. I contacted Kathleen and she immediately called me and explained how to reset the router, which worked. She was super nice and very helpful. Highly recommend this house as a place to stay when visiting the park.

perfect cozy homebase for Yosemite family trip
Kathleen's place was very accurately listed as a secluded getaway! It was incredibly cozy and well-stocked in terms of all the kitchen supplies we needed to have a homecooked meal every night after a full day at Yosemite. It was the perfect homebase for our Yosemite family trip. The hot tub was nice after a long day of hiking, and of course, the neighbor's dog Abby was a joy that came around most evenings. Even the pull-out couch was very comfortable. The directions were also clear on how to use or take care of the amenities at the house. Looking forward to returning again in the future!

Cosy and Rustic Retreat
The Pine Canyon Cottage was a great retreat for my husband and myself. It was very clean. The kitchen was well stocked for cooking. Kathleen was extremely responsive and made us feel very welcome. We enjoyed watching the deer roam around and we absolutely loved star gazing from the hot tub! A great secluded spot for relaxing after hiking in amazing Yosemite!

Relaxing retreat
We had a wonderful stay at Pine Canyon! We had just spent 5 days in San Francisco, and were ready for our Yosemite retreat. The house was clean, charming, and had everything we needed! We drove to Yosemite every day of our 5 day stay. We hiked a lot, and the hot tub was a welcomed relief to our sore legs. The neighbor dog, Abby who visited us several evenings was a welcome surprise, as we were missing our own dog, Abbey, back at home. The owner, Kathleen was available to answer questions via cell phone within minutes of our sending a message! You can’t go wrong staying at this quiet home in Mariposa! We enjoyed watching the family of deer who wandered through the property in the mornings! The only thing we wish we would have had were a couple of travel mugs so we could sip our coffee on the 45 min drive to Yosemite! 😉 Thank you again for sharing your wonderful home! We have wonderful memories of our trip!

House was very clean and good communication with owner. Hot tub was a bonus after sore legs from Yosemite. Well stocked kitchen . Loved all the wildlife activity. Abby the Very friendly Dog would visit and play fetch all night. If you love dogs bring a ball and she will be your best friend.

Beautiful, relaxing, and tidy stay
My friend and I had an absolutely lovely stay at this property outside Mariposa. The owner was incredibly kind and communicative. She knew we planned on hiking at Yosemite and reached out to us before our stay to let us know about a change in the park reservation system, to ensure we could go, which was incredibly nice of her. The home was even more beautiful than the pictures, and every room was spotless. We were also able to witness some wildlife around the property, including deer and wild turkeys. We had a really lovely stay, and the owner made everything an absolute breeze! I would definitely recommend this property, and would stay here again!

Felt more luxurious than expected. 45 min drive to Yosemite park best done before dark as return to property is challenging after dark. After 3 nights we learned it. Great Location for Yosemite Vacation
Communication with the owners was great. Quick to respond and knowledgeable about the area. Wildlife was abundant at the house. We saw deer, turkeys, and various birds. About 45 mins or so to Yosemite valley. Easy drive. Mariposa was nice in the evening to walk around downtown.
