Glen Lake retreat

The cabin was nice and clean. The lake was absolutely beautiful. There was no TV so I am grateful there is Wi-Fi in the cabin. No a/c so it got a bit warm on the warm days. Great location.

lake life refuge

This little cabin was just what we were looking for. Beautiful setting with plenty of options for paddling, relaxing, sunset-watching, meeting new people, etc. The proximity to Glen Arbor, the bike trail and Sleeping Bear Dunes made this location ideal for us. Thank you.

Beautiful location on the lake

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was very happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Location is perfect, lake is stunning, tennis/pickleball courts are a big perk! Cabins could use a little maintenance but are sufficient for a rustic stay.

Great Family Get Away!

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This was a great place for our family to relax, enjoy the lake (swim, paddleboard, kayak, etc.). You could easily spend much more money doing these things a la carte. The proximity to Sleeping Bear Dunes NL and Glen Arbor is excellent. There are a few signs of wear in the cottage - but relax, its a cottage! So if you don't like a tiny bit of sand, a few bugs, or a loose screw here and there you probably want a fancy hotel! The management staff checked in multiple times and their printed guide to the property was excellent. I also had a lovely chat with the owner (I think?) of the property. We'll be back!

Another Fabulous Family Trip to Brookhaven

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We just returned from our 26th summer family trip to Brookhaven Cottages in The Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. While so many in the US and Europe were sweltering in extremely high heat and humidity, we were reveling in gorgeous sunny weather with mid-day highs of 75F and great sleeping temps around 60F. There is no air conditioning in the cabins nor is it necessary as the breeze comes off Glen Lake and keeps us quite cool and comfortable. We love the access to the row boat on Brooks Lake behind the cabins and used the kayaks to paddle along the shore of Big Glen and into Big and Little Fischer Lakes. We either swam off the dock or used the stand-up paddle boards to get to the swim platform. When we did venture away from Brookhaven, we spent our days hiking the trails or climbing the dunes in the Sleeping Bear Dunes Nat'l Lakeshore, or biking along the Sleeping Bear Heritage Trail (paved off road path-30 miles long) through rolling hills, farmlands, sand dunes, and forested canopies. All of these activities left us super hungry for unlimited cherry products-cherry bar b que, cherry chicken salad, cherry pie, cherry pop and of course cherry ice cream. Most nights we had dinner at the picnic tables in front of Cabin 1 and watched the amazing sunsets. The campfire on the lakefront in front of the cabins is a favorite gathering place to relax after dark and enjoy marshmallows and s'mores. Brookhaven is great place for a solo trip, a couple, a family or a bigger gathering. We've had endless fun there and are already counting the days until we return in 2024.

This property has five small cottages but only one has a screened in porch. Our unit was 2 bed one bath and although fairly basic it suited our needs perfectly as it was on the lake. Very clean and nice additions like picnic table, fire pit, kayaks and canoes with long dock. The lake is rocky on this east side so I found water shoes were a must. Overall a great stay!!!

Beautiful View

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: It has a beautiful view right on Big Glenn Lake. The cottage was very comfortable but needs a little updating. It does mention some possibility of bugs, like ants, which is to be expected being right on the lake and I had no problem with since I only saw a few of them. I did see a few roaches the last day we stayed, which I was concerned about since I didn't want to take a chance of carrying them home in my luggage. Overall, I would recommend to a friend as long as the company takes care of the problem of the roaches.

Wonderful Getaway Time!

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Our late September stay was delightful! The rustic, little cottage was just right for me and my husband. The weather was perfect, breezy, early autumn lake weather - so we spent most of our time gazing at our Glen Lake from our front yard and around a fire, 3 out of 4 evenings. We know the area quite well and meandered around to some of our favorite beaches and bookstores. Perfect few days to rest and recharge ourselves!

Only concerns was we wish the shower was a bit larger and I think painting the bedrooms would be great. The ceiling may need some repair as well. It was a cozy little place and we slept great. Great lake and great location

Rating Details: The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We enjoyed our family time on big Glen Lake. Great weather didn't hurt. Spent lots of time in the water and on the pier. Did a couple of bonfires with smores. Local restaurants were great. Did the Sleeping Bear dunes a few times and visited Lake Michigan as well. The cabins are small but that was fine for us. Need some better chairs around the fire pit. The paddle boards and kayaks were fun as well. Thanks.

A great time with Mr. K!

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: It turned cold the day we got up there but Mr. K come out to the fire with us, took us for a ride on his boat. The cabins were perfect, small, cute, cozy, and basic but yet had everything you needed to cook indoors or out. Clean cabin and area. Great beach for kids, shallow water. I called ahead to se if I could bring a Prius load of firewood and stack it by my cabin and they had no problem with it.

A perfect Leelanau vacation at Brookhaven

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Based on a friend's recommendation, we spent our first vacation in Leelanau at Brookhaven in late August 2020. We only regret that it took us too long to discover the area -- an absolute jewel, the pinnacle of Midwestern wonderfulness, with lakes, forests, farmers markets, hiking, biking and history. Brookhaven cottages are in a perfect location on Glen Lake. The cottages are simple and comfortable. Visit Up North was consistently professional and responsive to all requests. We have already booked our return to Leelanau next summer.

Great place to stay

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: I really enjoyed my stay. The cabin was clean and comfortable. I kept "camping rules" in terms of food storage and washing dishes right away, as there are bugs out in the country. I don't typically do a lot of cooking while on vacation, but it was nice to have the a full kitchen available. The best part for me was the amazing location - close to everything I wanted to do, it's right on a lake - and the free access to the kayaks. It was such a relaxing place to hang out and then kayak, then hang out some more. I loved it. I was fortunate to meet up with one of the owners of the place, who was very friendly and gave me great advice about places to see and where to eat. I would definitely recommend staying here and would love to go back.

Amazing getaway - awesome host!

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Had no idea how wonderful this trip/location would be. As city people, we just needed a vacation and didn't know this area at all, but decided to take a chance. What luck to have found this treasured cottage owned and run by such an awesome family who has owned the property for many years. Big glen lake is gorgeous, clean and able to wade or jump in from the dock. Our toddler loved our little cottage and called it our "house" running in and out and exploring all around the beautiful secluded area. My husband cooked on the campfire and the grill, and we boated several times. Although the cottages are older and small, the owner has kept them up to date, clean, tidy, and comfy. Perfect for our family! We will be back.

Great location and view. Cute cottage but very outdated.

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Absolutely loved my fall girls’ weekend with my 2 daughters on Glen Lake. The cottage has an incredible view and treed property. Location is so close to Glen Arbor restaurants and Sleeping Bear Dunes. Great town! Incredible long dock to stargaze on. Outdoor chairs, kayaks, and fire pit. The cottage is tiny and extremely outdated, but it was quaint, clean, and did the job. We basically just slept in there. Beds were comfortable, living area and table nice to have in the evening after a long day of exploring all the beauty of the area. It was the perfect size for 3 people. Didn’t use the kitchen, but it was stocked with utensils, pans, etc. Nice deck with grill, chairs, and a picnic table to enjoy the view. This is like the typical “up north” cottage of my childhood growing up in Michigan. Nothing fancy and everything is old. It’s a step up from camping (glamping) unlike the upscale resort quality interior of many other VRBO’s/AirBnB’s properties I have rented in other states. It’s the view and location that’s worth the $. I would definitely stay here again.
