"The Captain's Quarters is a charming split-level houseboat in a sheltered mangrove bay that can rock you to sleep with the gurgling of waves against the hull. We arrived late, and were met with everything we needed to get into the boat and understand the expectations. Key to the door was a little challenging in the dark with the high winds that night, but that's a skill issue on our end, and the only hiccup we had. Mornings in Tavernier were a short walk to a choice of cafes, and the houseboat was a nice home base for our morning and evening day trips. Be aware that the marina is a working facility, and you should be aware of the work and the workers, who are all patient and careful. Late afternoon soaks in the pool, and evening beers at the attached bar were nice additions, with a great slice of laid-back island time. The head aboard is small (it's a boat, after all), but if the weather's good, you can use the outdoor showers - that you should wash off in before using the pool, anyway! Great stay in a unique property for our family of four - short stay but unique stories!"

"There is nothing like living on the water - so relaxing and peaceful. Dinghy worked out well. We saw several manatee and had a dolphin show a couple days which was awesome. What you should know - you are in a bay with THIRTY other boats surrounded by mangrove bushes so you cannot see the ocean. You cannot put toilet paper in the toilet and are to take your trash to a “public” trash can. To get to the back sun deck you have to go outside and go up a ladder and down a ladder OR climb over the bed and out a window. Be prepared to be under surveillance as you will be watched. We were reprimanded for not lifting the motor on the boat one evening and leaving the ladder down on the houseboat. We left for the Keys one morning and forgot to leave our porch light on. When we returned the light was on, there was a towel put on the floor inside the door, water was turned on and windows opened with curtains tied back. I’m sure Kelly was trying to help but kind of unsettling. "

"We had a fantastic stay on the houseboat. Everything was exactly as pictured—clean, comfortable, and very easy to settle into. The onsite bar and pool were a great bonus and really added to the overall experience. It was also a strong value for the price, especially for the Keys. We spent one day fishing and caught a ton of fish, which made the trip even better. Communication was smooth throughout and everything was exactly as expected. We’d absolutely stay here again."

"My family stays at VRBO's so we can just hang out, cook and play games. There really wasn't sufficient appliances to cook with. Not even an air fryer. There was a toaster and a 2 burner electric heating element thing and the toaster is in desperate need of being replaced. But the food at the dive bar was excellent.. we just had not budgeted and prefer not to eat every meal out. The office ladies were very friendly. We would stay again if they would stock the place with an air fryer, toaster oven, blender, some appliance and this place would be fine"
