"Nice place just around the corner from the Waitomo caves experience with the 100 meter absail...There were a fair number of steps up to our room but the room was nice and the water pressure was good. We kept warm on a July night and slept well. The breakfast was a fine continental breakfast and checkout was quick. We only stayed one night because of our schedule but could have easily enjoyed a couple more!"
"I lived my time here. My ensuite villa was clean, comfortable, and convenient. I really liked my time here. The little farm on the side of the property is adorable. "
"If you are going to visit the glow worms in the caves, this is the best place to stay as you can get to see your own personal glow worms at the sink hole a couple of minutes walk from your bed! A fantastic addition to the overall experience! There are also other things to see on the farm. Angus is a smashing host who loves to share!"
"This property was a real gem! Sweet, clean motel - quite adorable really. Comfortable beds, great amenities. I only wish the weather was better to access the lovely little balcony by the river!"
"Amazing how they were able to equip the train carriage with modern amenities while retaining the original charm. Bath was an add on unit with full fixtures but integrated with the train. Good AC and heating options and nice kitchenette. Check out the fabulous Hobbit and ferrry boat options."
"My family stayed here for two nights. This location is just around the corner from the caves, but is secluded. An excellent place to stay to avoid the crowds. The hostess responds fairly quickly to questions. I highly recommend going on the farm tour if you can - the tour is usually included for people staying at one of the hostess's properties, and includes the opportunity to meet sheep, cows, goats, alpacas, emus, and ostriches. It was very fun! I also highly recommend turning off all the lights and heading out on the porch late at night if you can; the location is very far away from light pollution, which means that you can see many more stars than most people are typically able to.There weren't really any downsides to our stay, although there are a few things to be aware of. First, the driveway is very steep and a bit tight, so be careful when driving up. Second, the house is a bit older, so if you can't stand bugs or you need recently renovated appliances, I would find somewhere else to stay (but if you don't mind those things, the house is very lovely!). Third, the house would probably be very difficult, if not impossible, to access for wheelchair users. All in all, I highly recommend this location for visitors! "
