Average stay for the Price
We stayed for 1 night at Moti Mahal during last week of December. Its good for 1 night stay, bit on an expensive side. (around 4k fot normal room)
Rooms are very old, curtains were dirty, even our room door was not working properly so they fixed it when we checkedin at 4pm. Service and frony desk are very slow. The breakfast is below average with no taste at all.
Hotel has Good parking space. The elderly lady taking care of Room Service/Breakfast was very helpful in coordinating with other departments.
Loved the staff and the suite was incredibly spacious and comfortable. Loved the high ceilings and windows all around. Great location

It could have been a lot better
Great location for the central station, which is what we wanted.
The food in the restaurant was very tasty and promptly served. The breakfast was also good too with plenty of choice.
The main problem for us was that the hotel seemed unaware of our reservation until we had to show them our email confirmation.
We were then taken to a room and both of us went straight to sleep after a long haul flight from London. We were woken after 30 minutes to be told they had put us in the wrong room! We had a choice of paying 2000 Rupees extra, or moving into another room. I was given no choice at all really - the bed was being used, we hadn’t slept for 24 hours so rather than get involved in an argument I opted to pay extra.
All in all it left me feeling that we had not been treated very well by the front of house staff.
Some more thought about customer service should have been applied.
Supposedly one of the best hotels in mangalore. Rooms are just average - some of them quite old and in need of desperate renovation. Wifi is horrible during the day. Breakfast is ok. Staff lack professionalism.
Motimahal had been one of the best hotels in Mangalore since the past few decades, and close to my heart. Having stayed at this place multiple times, I feel sad to say it isn't the same anymore.
During our last stay in Dec 18, our ordeal began with no parking available. After parking on the adjacent road, we waited for close to two hours for a room to be assigned. The room provided during this stay felt gloomy, despite the recent renovation. The AC remote failed to work properly, with the technician admitting there weren't spare remotes for the AC. The sheets had stains. The wifi wasn't working, and as IT staff left for the day we had to wait till morning. The food in the restaurant was good, and so were the pool facilities.
The major problem caused was the late night loudspeaker music next to swimming pool, which would have gone past 12am had the police not arrived. The staff of the hotel justified the party music till 11:30pm, as it being a private party from hotel guests. How the staff justified disturbing other room guests and neighbourhood building households with blaring music is beyond me. The late night music was something that affected the health of my parents badly, as they could not sleep and their health was affected.
Would not recommend this hotel to anyone anymore after this experience.

Rooms not worth the value
This was just an average hotel though it was published as a three star property. The rooms were bad though big. Just old fashion. No AC temp control. Cement floor.
Not worth the value that we charged. We had booked deluxe double room but were given ordinary double room on the fifth floor. The same room on the fourth floor was good. May not be true but feeling cheated on the deal.
Default definately not recommend this property to anyone.
Thanks
Moti mahal is a nice hotel situated in CBD of mangalore. Has all amenities required by a 5 star hotel. Food is expensive and service a bit lousy compared to modern standards. Rooms are spacious but some basic etiquettes like a first aid kit seemed missing. Also had an harrowing experience when 3 days before my travel was asked if i could move to a different hotel. I did not expect such behavior by a renowned hotel reason given was their rooms were being furnished ( true in the sense some of the rooms were undergoing refurbishment) but very unprofessional to ask guests to change at last minute.
Overall a nice experience but could have been much more better.
I stayed at this hotel in december 2017 when i visited mangalore for a wedding. The hotel is well located centrally. The staff are nice and friendly (particular mention is made of Ms Shruti a reception staff). Breakfast was nice and the attached south indian restaurant served good food at very reasonable prices.
The only minus was that one reception staff (male) rejected my request for a slightly extended check out time.
I understand it could be policy but he could have been more considerate.
Il nostro soggiorno è andato molto bene, abbiamo trovato il personale molto gentile e disponibile, camera pulita ogni giorno e molti servizi aggiuntivi offerti.

need to upgrade the hotel and more variety for breakfast
Horrible Hotel Gym closed on Sunday's, Pool fealth
Pool non operative
When I called for Gym reception said it is open and guided
Later when I somehow reached through wears pathway security said we close on Sunday's
Most people use Gym on weekend
Reception was not keen to open it. No manager wanted to talk . They said manager will contact after 8.30 am
No one seem to be interested to keep the hotel reputation
Not suitable to stay either for business or leisure travel
I stayed at this hotel in July 2016. It does not have a great reputation from the past. However, the hotel has been completely refurbished and everything seems brand new. Rooms were spotlessly clean, laminate flooring, high quality tiling in the bathroom. It is an excellent 3 star hotel. It is right in the heart of Mangalore on Falnir Road and central to everything. Disregard the bad reviews - they are probably by people who experienced it before it was refurbished.
rooms were untidy......had a dead cockroach in the toilet!! very rude staff..... unprofessional room service.......wifi is non existent.......over priced.......bad experience!!!
We checked in early, requested for a room for shower but were instead given our rooms (2 as booked). The next morning we were told that the check-out time was 6:15AM and not noon. We were charged for a whole room Rs.2800 when checking out at noon. The staff behind the desk wasn't even courteous or willing to breakdown the charges levied.
Also, had booked 2 king bed rooms but were given 2 single bed rooms.
Overall, the stay was disappointing. Will not repeat despite having to go to Mangalore every 3 months or so.

Strictly okay. Nothing great.
It was for the first night after our wedding. It was satisfactory but I thought it was expensive considering the location and city.
We found that the room we got was in a dilapidated situation. The room was stinking. The toilet door was broken down. The drapes and bed linen were all very old not at all acceptable in any way. Spoke to the reception and the supervisor came and took us to another room which was in a better shape. They offered another room but charged double the price.
Hotel is on Mother Theresa Road 2 minutes walk from centre of city. Good hotel, free breakfast n wifi. NOTE, very low balustrade in corridors and windows are wooden frame single glass so careful where you lean and walk. I would definetly stay here again if I were to revisit city.
Some Lodges are better maintained then this hotel, The hotel management needs to review their offerings against the charges, first impression will last for ever and the first impression is that this hotel is not better than any 2** lodge
