Nuremberg’s Main Market Square (Nürnberger Hauptmarkt) is a historic civic landmark that has been the center of activity in the city since medieval times. Attend seasonal markets, pick up fresh fruits and vegetables and admire the historic architecture that surrounds the square. Stroll around the market Monday through Saturday and enjoy the sights and smells of the Wochenmarkt (Weekly Market). Seasonal fruits and vegetables, freshly baked bread and pretty flowers are among the products offered for sale at the stalls. Pick up delicious treats and quick meals from Bavaria and around the world from the daily snack vendors.
Relax as you stroll through the square and enjoy the picturesque streetscape. You’ll see the ornate detail of the tall Schönen Brunnen (Beautiful Fountain), as well as the awe-inspiring Gothic façade of the Frauenkirche (Church of Our Lady), which dates back to the 14th century. Visit at midday to watch the procession of medieval figurines on the central tower of the church and listen to the bells chiming.
