Tourist Guide
Magee showing a small town or village
Situated in the heart of Mississippi’s lush greenery, this charming town is surrounded by rolling hills that are ideal for fishing, hunting and golf.

Magee is a picturesque town flanked by two meandering waterways, Goodwater Creek and Big Creek. The town’s position in between the Gulf Coast and Jackson, Mississippi’s capital city, makes it an ideal stop while road tripping around the state. Discover Magee’s flourishing arts scene and treat yourself to a relaxing visit to the town’s breathtaking natural surroundings. Check out the scenic hills that encircle the town and try some fun recreational activities.

Explore the center of town to find Magee’s cultural hub. Stop by the auditorium to see if any performances are being staged during your visit. You might see productions by Artists Mississippi, the Simpson County Arts Council and the Lamplight Theater. Get a feel for the local community at the modern Civic Center and the Magee Community Center. The Magee Sportsplex hosts local football and baseball matches.

If you are in Magee on the third Saturday of September, join in the fun of Magee’s Crazy Day. Located on the main street, Crazy Day is a celebration of community, where locals come together and set up booths for selling homemade crafts and treats.

You’ll find plenty of space for outdoors activities in Magee’s surrounding landscapes. Play golf at one of three nearby golf courses or go hunting in the woods. Canoe along Magee’s scenic waterways, such as the Okatoma Creek, which has a small rapid at one end. Magee’s climate is generally mild, however, summers can become very hot and humid.

Magee is located in the picturesque hills of Mississippi, 43 miles (69 kilometers) from Jackson. Reach the Gulf Coast in 3.5 hours from Magee. Smith County Airport is approximately a half hour drive from Magee, and there is also a municipal airport just outside of town. Reach Magee via public transport on the Canadian National Railway. Nearby Magee, check out the local culinary scene in Hattiesburg or see some live blues bands in Clarksdale. Find magnificent antebellum and Greek-revival mansions in Natchez or discover the fascinating Civil War history in Vicksburg.

"Clean place but keys would not work twice and the two different coffee pots they gave us did not work. Office staff is nice. Room had not been wiped down and drink rings on all surfaces. Bedding looked fresh and clean. Appears to be best in town which is not saying much"

Great Rustic Getaway
"If a rustic getaway is your idea, this place is great. It offered a good place for our friends and our kids to play and was overall a great time.
