Noisy neighbouhood.

There was lots of noise coming from the street. Hotel staff not very sympathetic.

Clean hotel 10 min walk from the Temple

Hotel Madurai Residency was clean and not far the Temple. The neighborhood of the hotel was a bit messy but the roof restaurant was great . The staff was a little arrogant and too busy to consecrate the customer . We had problems with Wi-Fi.

We came to Madurai to see the magnificent Meenakshi Amman Temple and were not disappointed about this hotel, to where we could walk from the railway station (backsackers) and from where we could walk to the temple.

Exactly what we needed!

We stayed for 2 days, hotel was very well located next to train station and in short walking distance from the Meenakshi temple. We felt quite secure there despite chaotic streets just outside. Comfortable room, nothing fancy. Staff very helpful in making travel suggestions. The restaurant had very well priced, delicious food. Roof top only open at night. Only disappointment was that when we wanted a beer on the rooftop we were sent away to the depressing dark basement bar.

GOOD LOCATION - REASONABLE TARIFF

I stayed in this hotel for 2 nights, that is 11th & 12th of December,2014 in connection with my conference. Generally the rooms are good.But the complimentary breakfast is much below the standard and I will it needs to be looked into. Similarly the car parking facility is also limited space.

Great hotel with superb staff. Very helpful with directions and service. VERY close to the Meenakshi Amman temple. I will not hesitate to visit again!

Madurai Residency staff are very good and the Hotel's 24 hour check in policy is helpful. The Hotels furnishings and in-house kits and toiletries is well thought out and useful. The food is above average / good. The cleanliness and upkeep needs to be better.

Nice enough staff, wifi only available in the lobby when they say it's on all floors. Just have to put up with the mosquitos at your feet. Not too bad until the last night when workers on the roof began drilling holes & banging at 11pm for the next 4 hrs. Not happy about that & no apology or offer of discount. AC in room was good

This hotel is well positioned in a bustling area, very clean and comfortable room, with a wonderful 24 hour check-out arrangement which is great if you are leaving late in the day.

Aside from the strong smell of mothballs this hotel was quite good. Probably great for the area. The manager was very friendly and helpful and the free breakfast was super. Clean rooms, card lock doors, excellent front desk staff. A good choice.

Good location and good service

The hotel has good location - not too far from Meenakshi Temple and train station. Parking can be a problem if you are taking your own car. The restaurant where breakfast is served is too small. If the hotel is full, you won't get place to sit. The plates were not taken away immediately after people vacated the places. We ended up sitting at the table by just pushing aside old plates and no one bothered to take them till we got up. Breakfast was good and good variety. Dinner was a problem as on that day they just offered buffet in roof top restaurant and no other option to order. so ended up eating outside. Otherwise hotel was good. Room sizes are too small compared to price they charge.

Coupures d'électricité fréquentes, mais on est en Inde !! Confort de la chambre standard et sans surprise mais refait à neuf récemment. Très agréable que de pouvoir prendre du temps sur la terrasse de l'hotel en profitant d'une superbe vue sur les temples Minakshi. Sinon ce que nous avons beaucoup moins apprécié est le réveil par l'appel à la prière de la mosquée toute proche à 4h45 chaque matin. A conseiller pour votre passage à Madurai.

A pleasant stay...

We stayed one night as a base to see the temple and we found the hotel, service and room fine and definitely value for money. There was an Intrepid group passing through and they usually select reasonable hotels that provide good service? Free wifi too in the foyer - always a good thing! The rooftop restaurant was a good experience (for us) and we enjoyed our dinner there. The travel guy was helpful. The breakfast was fine too...... YMMV
