"Massanutten Resort needs to rename themselves to ‘Massanutten Timeshares and Resort.’ The one stay was not a fun experience. Due to how this Resort had been built in 1971, everything is spread out. You have to drive everywhere which was disappointing, because the grounds where you drive to the hotels, villas, and other things is absolutely stunning, and, if were there sidewalks, would be perfect for people who may want not want to go full ‘nature walk’ but still want to get a good walk in. When you check-in they have go to another desk to get your parking pass where they’ll ateempt to get you to fall for their ‘tour the property’, but is actually to sell timeshares. Once you call them out on it, they try to backpedal, but thankfully for us, they weren’t pushy. They second time we went there they had upped their game to get people to sign up. The hotel that was assigned to us was extremely dated. It was a mismatch of 70’s lighting and 90’s/early 00’s interior design in the room itself. There is no elevator which wasn’t a problem for us, even though we were in the basement floor, but for many others it was not good. Our room smelled of heavy perfume someone’s grandmother would wear, carpet stained, dirty tabletops, and the locks were barely hanging on. There was also a big gap between the bottoms of the door and the floor so I jammed a towel to make sure nothing got in and stopped our door from moving around everytime someone slammed their door or opened the outside doors."

"Great location and enjoyed watching the deers so close to the property. The rec center was huge and had many activities for us to do. We also took in a hike and saw spectacular views of the area. The property was right next to a golf course which we used to walk several holes afterhours. The villa had a loft which was nice and the kitchen was good size for all the cooking we did. Excellent time!"

"We have been staying at this cabin for many years now, and it continues to be one of our favorite places to visit. Every stay has been consistently excellent. The property is always clean, comfortable, well-maintained, and exactly as described. It has the perfect balance of being cozy and relaxing while still having plenty of space and everything needed for an enjoyable stay."

"Overall, we enjoyed our stay in McGaheysville and appreciated the excellent communication with the property manager. They were responsive, and easy to work with. The location within the Massanutten Resort area was great and very convenient to James Madison University. The kitchen was well equipped, and the dining area was spacious and perfect for gathering as a group.That said, the property itself appears to need some attention and general maintenance. The house overall seemed somewhat neglected, and the interior could really benefit from fresh paint, as the walls were pretty beat up. Unfortunately, the housekeeping/cleanliness was disappointing. The bathroom shower stalls and floors appeared dirty, stained, and worn. We also loved spending time on the deck, but the outdoor furniture was stained and dirty. Additionally, the gas grill was extremely filthy upon arrival, and it took about an hour to clean before it could be used for cooking.Another disappointment was that the main floor bedroom and the owner’s suite did not have suitable places to hang clothes, which was not ideal during our stay. We also felt the photos used in the property listing were clearly outdated and did not accurately reflect the home’s current condition. In addition, the driveway is on an extremely steep slope/hill, which could make navigating to and from the property difficult for anyone with physical limitations or mobility concerns."

Mountain Views, Resort Access, Full Kitchen!

"We were checked in at 5pm - during the onsite checkin window of 4-6pm. There were instructions on what to do if you areived after. Front desk that checked us in was very helpful. Communication with host before was very good. Our unit had a lot of steps to get up to the unit. Other than that, unit was clean and ready for us. We were there for JMU graduation so was a little further out of town but was nice to have place with space vs a hotel room. Saw lots of wildlife on the property and grounds. The Thunderbird café down on RT33 was very good for breakfast one day. The other day we did the on-site restaurant near the golf course. The only option was was a buffet breakfast. It was good but if you only wanted a small breakfast, havng that option would have been good. Note - checkout is 10am - we made it work but was a hustle. Overall, I recommend the property as an option if you are in the Harrisonburg area. We had a really nice stay."
