Rejuvenating long weekend at Shenandoah Shores
We came to relax and recharge at Shenandoah Shores waterfront cabin and the weekend did not disappoint. We expected snow but got rain, freezing rain, and sleet, but still the justification we needed to have a worry-free weekend. The indoor accommodations were cozy and comfortable with one of the best outfitted kitchens we have seen. The crafts and decorations throughout the home were a joy to view. And the river views and firepit on the shore gave us the calming respite that we needed. We have stayed on the river at other homes in early Fall, so I can imagine the summer river fun to be had with the available canoes and kayaks. The internet speed and range could be improved, since cell coverage is weak in this area. Future investment in a power generator would be wise. Our 7-hour power outage was not a major inconvenience, since the gas fireplace kept it warm in the living area. But I can imagine a difficult time for longer outages or on really cold or really hot days. We will definitely keep Shenandoah Shores on our list for the future.

We had a great time at this place. Everything in this house is well thought out. Great decoration and clean. Other than occasional buffer when watching Netflix, everything else was great. Sitting around the fire and watch the river is relaxing. We would come back again.

Fall getaway
We love the cabin. It’s a very cozy environment. Love the decor and fireplace. The new kitchen table was a great addition. It was our second stay. We brought my daughter and her husband this time. They fell in love with it and want to build one like it. Only complaint would be wifi bandwidth and range only because we watched hockey games on Saturday. Otherwise it’s fabulous. Owners thought of everything you could want. Kitchen well stocked with silverware, dishes, glasses, pots and pans, etc. We will rent again next year for sure. K&J

Escape we needed
I can’t say enough wonderful things about our stay. After less than 24 hours there, we asked to add another day to our stay and Tom graciously accommodated us! Our first morning we woke up, we sat in the chairs outside on the River bank and the view up the river with the mountains was breathtaking. Loved our nights with the fire pit..sleeping in the bedroom facing the river with the window up, cool air coming in, the sound of the river, under the warm covers was the most peaceful and relaxing sleep. So many thoughtful considerations and beautiful touches did not go unnoticed. We will absolutely be returning again!

Lovely cabin in a great location
LOVED this property! The house was cute and on a secluded lot of land right on the Shenandoah River. They had canoes, kayaks and a tube available for use. The backyard was awesome with chairs and a fire pit all with a wonderful view of the river. We can't wait to go back. I have already been letting my friends know about this house.

Great weekend away
Wish we could have stayed longer. If your looking for peace and quiet this is for you. Didn’t spend much time inside as most of our time was spent sitting by the fire or out on the kayaks fishing. But the inside is just as nice as the outside. Enjoy

The pictures on the listing don't do this home justice. The cabin is gorgeous. The views of the river and mountains are stunning. It was so clean. Anything you forgot to pack? Don't panic. A quiet cabin get-away on the Shenandoah River
This cabin was the perfect spot for our vacation. After a hectic end of the school year, it was calming to drive out of city and end up at this charming cabin. We had morning coffee on the porch overlooking the river. Afternoons were spent fishing and trying the kayaks.

Adorable and peaceful!
This cabin is adorable, and the views are spectacular. My kids had a blast, and it’s so cozy and relaxing. The hosts were easy to reach, and went out of their way to set up little things in the house to make it comfortable. We definitely will be back!

A wonderful place
We have really enjoyed staying at Shenandoah Shoes property. The pictures did not do it justice. The property was in great condition, the kitchen tools and appliances have everything you could possibly need, the living room and its deck overlooking the river were wonderful and the fire pit and chairs on the river were just heaven. We also took a car ride to a few hiking places around and really enjoyed it. We will definitely try to come again the summer as well.

Fall Escape
My wife and I wanted to get away from the hustle and bustle and this was the perfect place. If you like the sound of the river while you enjoy music around the firepit this is the perfect place to be. The owner thought of everything when they stocked their house. Our Friday night dinner was a half baked pizza from our favorite local pizza place and the fact they have a pizza pan to finish baking it was a welcomed surprise. We didn't want for anything while we were there. We took one of the canoes out and explored a little, which was great since we plan on returning in the spring. The motion sensor lights were great when we needed to go back to the house to refill the cooler or get snacks. The house is very clean and that's saying a lot as my wife is a clean freak. Kirk & Jen

At home, but on the Shenandoah river
We love this place, its just perfect for us. We are returning guest and we have already booked again for next year. For about ten years we've been coming to Luray to enjoy the Shenandoah river, and we have stayed all over.... Tom and Margos place is by far our favorite, we feel at home here. If you book, you won't regret it.

Fantastic River Access and Beautiful Views!
Our family stayed at this cabin for a few nights and had a very enjoyable getaway. The property is wonderful, the access into the river is amazing! The property is very private- the perfect place to relax. The fishing was excellent while we were there and we also enjoyed canoeing. Our youngest could easily play in the water. The cabin was very clean! We were very impressed with the kitchen, it was stocked with everything you might need! The owners were very responsive and accommodating, before and during our stay. We had a few minor issues while there (not at the fault of the owners) but they were all handled quickly. Next time we are in this area, this is exactly where we would want to stay again!

Perfect weekend on the river
We chose to stay the weekend in Tom and Margo’s river cabin and it did not disappoint. Everything is as described in their add. Access to the river couldn’t have been better. Rather you want to enjoy a quick dip to cool off or go for a float in one of the tubes or kayaks provided, this spot will fill your needs. The house has enough space around it that you won’t have to worry about nosy neighbors. Cell service is very limited, but isn’t that the point of getting away to the mountains. We would stay here again

Perfect getaway! Yes, it's mountainy back roads to get there -- you're in Shenandoah! The pictures don't lie, this cabin was delightful! Highly recommend. My 7 year old loved playing in the river. It's just a few inches deep right in front of the cabin. It was great having the tubes, canoes and kayaks right there. We could try them all!

A Perfect Property
The property and the location was more then I expected. It’s better then the pictures you see online. The sound of the river and the view of the mountains is amazing. Watching a bald eagle fly by was a bonus. The cabin was clean and charming. A perfect property for this incredible location. I want to come back!

Quick communication with owner. Brief hiccup after arrival related to communication with owner. River was very high and moving fast. It was a treat to watch. Cabin is very well stocked and cozy. Everything you could need or hope for in a vacation property
Enjoyed a wonderful and super comfortable stay right on the river. The cabin and property was well-equipped with everything needed, from every kitchen utensil you might need to kayaks, canoes (with life vests), 2 charcoal grills and a fire pit for outside fun. Great location on the river and convenient 25-minute ride to local attractions.

Our stay at this cabin was amazing. I do not think the pictures do it justice. Extremely relaxing and plenty of room for our family of four (but larger families would be comfortable as well). And the owners are honest. My daughter accidently walked through the screen door and damaged it pretty good. Upon leaving I mentioned this to the owners, and they deemed the door damaged beyond repair (which is accurate, she hit it pretty good). I thought for sure 100% of the deposit would be lost. But the owner only withheld the actual value of the replacement cost. and a fair cost. This was unexpected. You will not be disappointed by your stay here.

Best cabin in Luray!
We visit Luray every summer and this was the best cabin we've stayed in yet! The river is just A few feet away from the back door. We went fishing every day, sat by the fire at night making smores, and our teenager hung with us the entire time! We will definitely be booking our next trip here! Pictures do not do this place justice! Place was extremely clean, furniture and beds were very comfy, and had all the necessary amenities that you would need. Shenandoah River Outfitters is right down the street, we enjoyed tubing one day. Unfortunately the river was running low tide and we weren't able to tube past our cabin but we still had a blast. Thanks for opening the cabin up to renters!

Hidden gem / Will be returning
The location is stunning, and the property is in excellent condition. As others have mentioned, the pictures really don’t do it justice. You can’t put a house any closer to the water, and we could not ask for a better view. We enjoyed the fire pit for 2 nights in a row, did a little fishing, and just relaxed as much as possible. Thank you for opening up your home for our family to enjoy. We will be returning!

Peace on the River
Great location near the Shenandoah skyline where we enjoyed a few awesome hikes. Really loved the serene river view and fire pit, plus the cabin’s gas fireplace. This was the BEST stocked rental we’ve ever experienced, from pots and pans, dishes, foil, seasonings, kitchen and laundry soap, and grilling supplies. Wonderful three nights.

But we loved the location and the fireplace. A little noisy at night but if you close the bedroom door its fine. Just the water tank or something making the noise at night. The check in was easy and seamless. We want to come here every winter! Just hope we catch some fish next time!

Cabin on the waterfront
Fantastic place to relax and just unplug. The river nearby was so relaxing to listen to, and we got to take some nice walks in the fresh snow, and then warm up in the toasty cabin. Nice space with full kitchen that had literally everything we would have needed. Would come back in a heartbeat!

Beautiful place with some quirks
First off, the cabin is better than is presented in the pictures. It's a perfect getaway from the city to enjoy nature without giving up too many creature comforts. Sitting at the fire pit right on the water was a great experience. There are also lots of hiking trails within 30 minutes of the cabin. All in all I'd recommend the place, but with a few caveats that you'll need to prepare for. As another commenter said, bring your own water, lots of it. The water is well water and has a very potent smell of sulfur and metals. We bought 2 gallons of water per day at the local Walmart to use for drinking, cooking, and brushing our teeth. Not a huge deal as long as you're prepared, but I couldn't imagine using the well water for your coffee for example. There's also quite a lot of strange noises that come from the loft above the kitchen. It sounds like the water pump for the cabin is up there, and twice in 4 days it sounded like it was refilling a tank for 30 minutes or so. Again, not a big deal, just quirky. There's little to no cell reception at the cabin, and the wifi is just functional (you won't be streaming Netflix), but we wanted to disconnect so that wasn't an issue at all for us. With those few things in mind, I would still recommend this place as it really shows better than the photos indicate and we had a great time out there.

Peaceful retreat
This lovely cabin is on the South Fork of the Shenandoah River. We were lulled to sleep by the gentle river rapids and enjoyed great views from the deck of the river, foliage and night sky. Great hiking is a short drive.

Beautiful clean cabin. Can hear Good Falls on the river from inside which was very relaxing. River front area is perfect for wading or canoeing. BYO drinking water as tap water has heavy metalic taste and open windows upon arrival as property manager couldn't assure house cleaner wears mask.

Our cabin has a water filtration system. It is well water. It will not taste like your water from your tap at home. Please check the reviews below. No complaints. Regarding our housekeeper wearing a mask while cleaning. I was able to assure our guest prior to his stay that our housekeeper wears a mask the entire time while cleaning, with the exception of when cleaning the bathroom, that she may temporarily remove it because she can not breathe while using the bathroom cleaners. We comply with all CDC guidelines for cleaning our cabin.
