Escape to a cozy cottage on Ausable Lake, in Lupton, Michigan!
Hello! We’re Shane and Sara Edgerton. We are so excited that you’re thinking of staying at our cabin on Au Sable Lake. This place is very special to us. Our families have had cabins on Au Sable for generations and still do. In fact, Shane and I met on Au Sable Lake when we were teenagers; now, we are married and own Shane’s grandmother’s cabin, which we purchased in 2022. The cabin has since undergone a transformative remodel to enhance your experience of the lake! Au Sable Lake is an all sports lake with access to natural, uninhabited areas through the canals and back lakes. Great for kayaking or paddle boarding. The cabin is located near hiking trails, such as the Rifle River Trail. It is also 34 minutes away from the Rainbow Resort in Mio for family tubing, kayaking, and canoeing on the Au Sable River. We hope you enjoy all the fun and memory making that Au Sable Lake has to offer!

Had an amazing Labor Day weekend! The cabin is so cute & cozy and has the best views & sunsets ever! We went on two kayak trips and got to explore the lake! We would definitely come back!
Had a great 2 night stay at this relaxing lakeside cottage. Very clean and nicley decorated. One small issue with not knowing how to operate the shower but Sara took care of it quickly. Had a great time using the paddle boards and paddleboat. Very quick to respond to my many questions about the area and all of the restaurant recommendations were good. Would definitely stay here again.
Nicely decorated and clean. Check in and departure was a breeze with a door code given to you prior to arrival. The kitchen was fully stocked with whatever you needed to cook with and plenty of towels available for both kitchen/bath. Thankful for the AC during our stay when the temps were in the 90's. Shane responded quickly to any questions or concerns. The sunsets were an added bonus to our stay. Would definitely recommend.
We had 5 adults and an infant in our group. All slept comfortably and the house is immaculate and well stocked. Our favorite part was sitting on the couch and looking out over the lake early in the morning as it was a bit cool to be outside. The lake is remarkably clean and clear and the beach has a hard sandy bottom out past the end of the dock.We had a couple of questions and Sara responded immediately to help us out. If you are looking for a cozy spot for a getaway, this is your place!
This was my 2nd time staying in Hale, on a 2 week work-cation and this house exceeded our expectations. The house is a lot bigger looking than the photos show. I have a family of 4 and we never felt cramped and the kids had plenty of room to stay out each others hair (8 year old girl 11 year old boy iykyk) The kitchens HUGE, well equipped, and probably enough seating between the two tables for 12 people.Now... onto the important part: THE LAKE!AuSable Lake is beautiful. It's almost like two lakes, tied together by a really shallow sand bar. The eastern portion is mostly developed but the western side looks like something from Northern Canada. Ironically the fishing, for me at least, was WAAAY better on the developed side. For being a public lake I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of Largemouth and Northern Pike. I won't give you my secret spots, but I'll tell you to focus on the deep weed edges and you'll be just fine ;)The host was gracious enough to let me bring a boat to dock there for my stay, but there's also a paddle boat avaiable to do some exploring/fishing. There is a place you rent boats from locally, FYI.The lake was never crazy busy w/ boaters or anglers and everyone I met made me feel like I was part of the community. My arm was starting to get sore from having to wave at everyone you see... it much be a northern michigan thing.Book it!
