"Cadre agréable, calme, vacances reposantes, piscine raffraichissante. Propriétaires accueillants et discrets. Seul bémol, la location ne comporte pas deux chambres comme écrit dans l'annonce. Les couchages enfants sont dans l'espace salle à manger/cuisine et le couchage pour les adultes se trouve dans une pièce attenante séparée d'une cloison seulement au 3/4. Même si nous avons maqué d'intimité, nous avons passé un séjour agréable."

"We had a wonderful stay in Montignac-Charente. The apartment is a short walk to the town center and we enjoyed stopping in at the patisserie and the cafe. A full grocery store is a short drive away. Our dogs also loved long walks along the country roads beside fields filled with sunflowers. Our host met us when we arrived, kindly showed us how everything worked, and even gifted us some apple preserves that tasted fabulous on our morning croissants. There was more than enough room for the 4 of us...

"A wonderful holiday home, beautifully modernised and renovated, everything you could ever need is catered for - even down to bluetooth speakers (x3), yoga mats, air conditioning in two rooms (though house very cool in July), and the fridge has ice machine and ice cold water. "This is a lovely house which is beautifully kept and the pool an added bonus in the heatwave. The area is full of things to see and do, and the locals are very friendly.Unfortunately and through no fault of the owners, problems with the VRBO App made communication with them very difficult prior to arrival. The helpline was helpful in resolving this, however, and once our holiday was underway, we had a fabulous time."

"This house is exceptional. The outside area is particularly lovely, the pool a dream. We had everything we needed, spending evenings cooking in the kitchen room which overlooks the garden and pool area was relaxing and eating outdoors equally pleasant. Communication with the host was probably the best we have experienced after many stays across Europe, she was more than helpful. Nearby we made trips to Angoulême, Saintes, Royan ( a must for the architecture) and Niort. We can thoroughly recommend. "

"Excellent. Stunning location. Surrounded by water. A real get away from it all property. Huge plot surrounded by the river which wraps around the site, under and adjacent to the house. Watch kingfishers from the kitchen. Fish for pike, perch, trout and chub in the river which is teaming with fish. The interior is much better than the photographs suggest. There is little to do in the village as it is a very rural area but there are limited facilities in the next village Dampierre-sur-Boutonne which has a friendly little shop which sells basics but also sells beer and wine and pizzas ( very nice) and has a few tables and chairs where you can have a drink and mix with other tourists and locals. Good shopping nearby at Intermarché at Aulnay and even better at St Jean d’Angely where everything can be found including a good veterinary clinic. We drove from England and it is a long way but was well worth it. Unfortunately the weather was mixed and there is little to entertain you if the weather is poor as it is very rural. We had a great holiday and can recommend this property fully. The house is secure, hidden out of the way and very comfortable with good facilities, good WiFi, well equipped and presented. If you like birdwatching and fishing this is heaven. For anglers we caught good sized fish on fly, worms , maggots and lures. Bait is available in a fridge in the supermarket at Aulnay and a decent selection of tackle including lures, lines, hooks etc. Tight lines! "

"The house is as stylish and capacious as the booking information suggests! We made full use of the cool indoor spaces and the pool during our stay at the height of a heatwave. Macqueville and the nearby villages are very quiet and we experienced the slightly unreliable hours of the village shop and restaurant. Booking there is essential. Also a special mention for Dave who was very helpful. "

The location is wonderfully scenic and quiet and Thomas as host was brilliant - helpful and on hand to help manage the pool and share info about local activities and possible trips/places to visit. Very welcoming and friendly. The house was lovely - with plenty of space and everything you need to just unwind and relax. Evenings spent sitting outside under the stars were lovely. "
