I’ve been saying here for nearly ten years. Aside from the stunning location, I appreciate that I can make my trip as busy or as quiet as I want, and there is something for every interest: hiking on one of the Cobscook Trails, grabbing a beer and listening to live music at Lubec Brewing Company, meeting artists as the numerous galleries in the area (make sure to visit Crow Town Gallery), chat with the locals, or just have some quiet time sitting on the back deck watching creatures cavort. It is my favorite place.
Fabulous place to getaway from it all and just relax. All was as described in description of property. View was stunning. House clean and super comfortable. Communication with owner was great.
Truly enjoyed our vacation at Stacy’s VRBO home. The home is beautifully decorated and the water views are amazing. I’ve stayed in many “ HOME AWAY’S “ and Stacy’s is definitely 5 stars !
An absolutely perfect place to get away from it all! Awesome sunsets, quiet breezes, and the wonder of giant tidal changes. Not another person in sight the entire week...just eagles, deer, and a few gulls. The Seaside Sanctuary was exactly what we expected, perfectly cozy with everything we needed for a getaway to recharge and reset. Scenic hikes in the area, cute seaside towns, and the lovely countryside were highlights that we mixed in with long relaxing days reading and sipping coffee on the many decks situated thoughtfully around the property. This was everything we had hoped for...we will be back!
We had a beautiful week in Lubec. House had everything we needed, and more. Spent our first few days relaxing and listening to music, great CD collection. Bed was comfortable and it was great to wake up and have coffee and look out over the water.
The property is remote and therefore quiet and private. We had wonderful views of the water and the changing tides from the back deck and also areas to sit right in the shore and on the front porch a feel of being in the mountains with all the densely forested trees. It is in a great location for trips to Lubec and Eastport and to Canada. We had an unforgettable week thanks to this special “Seaside Sanctuary”
This is a magical place with all the charm and warmth you can imagine. The views are incredible and the force that brings you into nature, its beauty and magic is palpable. There are no words to describe the home, Lubec, its people and shores. We will most definitely return.
This was our first trip to Maine, and Stacey’s house did not disappoint! It was beautiful! Everything was very clean and easy to find, and I cannot BEGIN to describe the views. The location was serene and peaceful; if not for the occasional plane flying overhead, it really does feel like there’s no one around.
Stacey was also great communicating; it was easy to get in touch with her as needed and she responded quickly to all of our questions.
We would definitely stay here again!
"Private Seaside Sanctuary" is the perfect description for this home
We are a group of women friends who travel together several times a year. This is our second visit to this home because we loved it so much the first time. The place is private, and the views are unbelievable - there are several places around the property to sit comfortably, drink your favorite beverage, and take in the sights. The surrounding area provides many opportunities for incredible hiking, biking and kayaking. We loved our second visit as much as our first - would highly recommend this home!
We had the most relaxing week at Seaside Sanctuary. We enjoyed the absolute peacefulness and beauty during our stay. Everything was clean and cozy. The deck in the morning was our spot to enjoy our coffee and the chairs in the bedroom were a comfortable spot to enjoy our wine and look at the moon and water at night. The unobstructed views were amazing and it was exciting to see a nesting pair of eagles and seals during our stay. We really enjoyed the area as well - Monica’s Chocolates, Campobello, Eastport, etc. There many good restaurants with delicious seafood. We hope to come back Seaside Sanctuary and the Lubec area again!
This home is my secret getaway destination. After a stay here, I’m refreshed and ready to face the world. The location is ideal - solitude if you want it but easy access to towns, shops, and galleries. Stacey, the owner, is just a text away if something comes up, but the house is so well appointed you typically don’t need anything extra. I will be honest - this is not the Maine of Bar Harbor or busy tourist towns on the southern coast. But it is the Maine I love best. If you want to spend your days hiking and paddling lakes and your evenings gazing at star-filled skies, this is the place for you.
Seaside Sanctuary is a beautiful home nestled in the quiet woods of true Down East Maine, with breathtaking views of the tidal coastline. The home was very comfortable and true to the pictures on the website. Although the weather did not cooperate (rain, fog, and a hurricane headed right for us), we enjoyed our time spent in the house and exploring the nearby area as much as possible. Stacey was very easy to communicate with and was very concerned about our well being with the approaching storm. I would recommend this home to anyone seeking solitude and a picturesque location. Thank you for sharing your home with us, Stacey & Tripp.
Our 3rd stay at Seaside Sanctuary and this time we stayed 2 weeks. Stacey is always super-communicative and the house has everything you could possibly need. We were able to get in some nice day trips down to the Schoodic Peninsula of Acadia National Park, Milbridge, Calais, Eastport, Reversing Falls, Machias & Jasper Beach. We caught a sunrise at West Quoddy Head Lighthouse and explored Cobscook Shores and points around Lubec and the Bold Coast. We spent about 1/2 the time there just "being" at the house- soaking in the views, getting out on our kayaks and taking in the ever-changing tides, wildlife & scenery. And the QUIET; maybe the quietest place we have ever been. We were also treated to 2 nights of the Aurora Borealis, which were absolutely stunning! This is a very special & magical place and we will be back, hopefully sooner than later.
We had an incredible stay at Seaside Sanctuary. Spectacular views and the perfect home to unwind and unplug. Truly one of the most beautiful properties to be found anywhere. Gorgeous views of the cove with comfy rockers and Adirondack chairs for sunrise and sunset vistas. House is well-taken care of, spotlessly clean, and has everything you need plus some excellent extras - binoculars, fans, pretty margarita glasses w/ matching pitcher, stock pots for lobster, fantastic lighting, comfy seating and beautiful decor. Beds were super comfy plus two full bathrooms.
Nothing better than waking up in the morning to gaze right from bed at the sparkling water! We had so much fun trying to spot the eagles each day. We also saw seals, cormorants, and a very friendly red squirrel who visited daily. We could have spent each day relaxing in the various areas designed for enjoying everything this property has to offer - nature, the sea, wildlife, and views. Morning coffee on the deck at the southeastern end of the property and drinks in the evening in the chairs at the northwestern end! We had fantastic weather but Seaside Sanctuary would have been just as lovely on a rainy day. We also enjoyed seeing some sights in Lubec - Bold Coast/Boot Head Preserve, Quoddy Head, Monica’s Chocolates, and Love at First Light Ice Cream were some highlights. But really and truly our favorite thing to do was hang out at our seaside sanctuary! Stacey was also an excellent host and check-in/out was easy.
Beautiful location and lovely house. Very relaxing week spent hiking and watching the tides and incredible sunsets from one of the multiple decks on the property.
