Overall room fine but backed into busy road a train line so noisey.
Room was fine. Clean and warm, although it is looking a bit tired. Outside the room the corridors and entrance were very cold and hardly inviting. Overall the motel is in need of a refurnish.
Easy stay in the Hutt, close enough to the centre you could walk. Could be noisy at night as the train is right beside the hotel but we didn't actually find it an issue (and I usually struggle to sleep when its noisy). There is however a pool table in the common area which is right beside the bedrooms which could potentially be noisy if the wrong people were playing it late at night!
Nice clean large room with all facilities.Check in with owners daughter was very helpful and friendly.
Dean the owner even drove me to the train station when I left.I would definitely recommend staying here. Its about. 15 min walk into the Hutt centre.
When we arrived we were told Expedia had not reserved a room for us despite taking our money. The receptionist refused to accept responsibility for the error. However, they gave us a room pending resolution with Expedia - and everything was finally OK after initial concern. The room was comfortable and functional. The location took a bit of getting use to but worked for us.
We arrived at 2am due to a delay with a ferry, we communicated with the staff before and they arranged to leave a key in a secure location. In the morning they kindly let we check out a little later so we could have a sleep in and a cuppa. Very friendly.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, room comfort
Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
Room needs air conditioning otherwise it was clean
Checked in about 6pm same time Melling trains stops for the night, went out for dinner, had range doors open been stuffy, noise was no problem of cause you hear traffic as you're close to motorway but no big deal. Thanks
Good for an overnight stay on route to the ferry for South Island, basic accommodation in a fairly built up area, heavy rush hour traffic so leave plenty of time for the journey into Wellington

Hello William
Thank you for taking the time to review Fernhill Motorlodge.
I trust your trip on the Ferry was enjoyable
I arrived late in the evening and host was there to welcome me. Being a cold evening he had a space heater already on to warm the room up.
All facitities worked well.

we only needed a room for the night. was comfortable. had all the items in the room you would need. TV, microwave, kettle, cutlery, fridge, glasses. the site is a little dated.
the hotel is nice for the area but the rooms smelled musty and caused some allergic reactions. front staff was great but overall the room left quite a bit to be desired.
