Yet another fabulous meal, off the beaten path at El Tamarindo; love this spot. Wonderful, farm fresh (Mexican/Italian fusion) food, great service in an enchanting and romantic al fresco setting. There were a few more people here this time around, so the secret may be getting out. Easily among my top eats in San Jose del Cabo, if not all of Baja.

Every once in a while, I come across a place that is so special, that I struggle with whether or not to even Trove it and let my secret out. El Tamarindo is such a place. For those of you who know the area, this place is similar to Flora Farm, or at least as you might have imagined it in it's early days (more rustic/less refined, etc.). It is remote and out of the way, seemingly in the middle of nowhere (end of a long and very dark dirt road!), but upon arrival, you are transported to a Tuscan like setting that is completely removed from anything you'd expect to find in Baja. Much of the cooking is done in an outdoor kitchen (see photo), and the menu is farm fresh, to say the least. After a chat with the incredibly friendly, and hospitable owner/chef, Enrique (pictured), we settled on a family style menu where he just brought food until we raised the white flag; incredible. Lobster, shrimp, rib-eye steak, roast chicken, pasta marinara (sauce was as good as I've had - took some home!)!), sun-dried chile rellenos (one of my favorites), and the most beautiful roast vegetables you'll ever see, of every imaginable color and type. The tomatoes (every color) were particularly impressive; group favorite Without question, one of the coolest/most memorable dining experiences I've had in Mexico, or anywhere for that matter. Can't wait to go back.

The room was always clean and staff was so nice! The resort itself was so beautiful, we enjoyed our time here! However, I will say - we had some issues with things not working in the room, requests for refills were not always met when they said they were completed. There was a fight for pool chairs ...

My wife, two sons and daughter--in-law stayed here for one week in early February.
