Family & Pet Friendly Restored Cottage in East Mayo with 4* Bord Failte Award

Built by the Congested District Board in 1903, this beautiful cottage has been completely renovated to provide pet and family friendly self catering which has a 4* rating with the Irish Tourist Authority. Situated in the small village of Bracklagh, it has been finished to a very high standard with a new bathroom and kitchen, ensuite wet room, wood/peat burning stove, saorview tv, bluetooth speaker, digital Roberts radio, linen & towels from The White Company, underfloor heating via a groundwater heat pump and most of the electricity provided by a ground mount solar array.. A refurbished hay barn is ideal for parking, while a second, lockable barn is available to store bikes, surfboards and the like. Bracklagh is very quiet and a haven for wildlife – particularly hares and well behaved dogs are VERY welcome.

Such a beautiful cosy home with heated floors and a fire! The surroundings were beautiful, not to mention the friendliest cats ever and two gorgeous ponies. Seán (the host) was so lovely and speaks beautiful Irish too. Would absolutely recommend to anyone from a few friends to a full family trip. Will be definitely be staying here again! We loved our stay at this property. The managers were friendly, accommodating and responsive to our questions. The cats and ponies were an extra bonus that made the trip. We used the kitchen quite a bit and had everything we needed. We did not use the washer because we didn’t have a dryer or way to hang clothes. DVDs were great. Beds were comfortable. Heated floors was nice. Great to have a tub and shower. Thanks again!

Great and relaxing stay

The cottage is really nice, not too far from Claremorris (groceries, pharmacy and more). We had a great stay with a really calm neighborhood! Beware of the cats, they ask for pets really often. Also, the cottage has many nice things to visit around: beaches, museum, castles... and Sean and Suzi have put together a binder with great recommendations.

Séan and Suzi have done a fantastic job at converting a piece of history into a present-day retreat home. This location was ideal for us and our dogs as we needed to escape the madness of fireworks over Halloween and enjoy a quiet countryside break. We had a great week at the house. It is so peaceful and the lovely scenery, Sean was an excellent host who gave some good advice on places to go. My children loved feeding the ponies next to the house this really gave the week the x factor plus the 4 adorable cats.This is the best place we hae stayed.

Unfortunately this was a work trip so I didn’t get to explore the beautiful countryside as much as I would have liked but the cottage was absolutely beautiful. Really well equipped and comfortable. The owners Seán & Suzi were warm and welcoming. Great place to come back to after a hard days work but I would love to bring the family back for a wee holiday sometime. First class.

Great peacefully location, within 7km of mainstream supermarkets. Beautiful scenery and amazing hosts (Sean & Susie) were very helpful and considerate of our needs, as my partner is disabled, we also had two dogs with us. A very advisable place

It is a wonderful restored cottage with a complete and high-quality endowment. Many tasteful details make you feel comfortable. Sean was a very nice, uncomplicated and helpful host. If you like a quiet surrounding in the midst of the landscape, this will be the perfect place. We also liked the animals (four cats and two ponys) which live on the property.

Real pleasure real Ireland

A taste of real Ireland in Mayo. Peaceful location, characterful accommodation with really comfortable beds, rooms and living room. We both slept so well. It was fully stocked with everything, plus more, you could think of including games, cable tv, extensive kitchen equipment, high quality bedding and a delightful bath. The hosts were incredibly helpful, knowledgeable and informative. We enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning very soon. Thank you Mayo. Thank you to our two & four legged friends.

Restful get away

The property is in an idyllic location, if you want piece and quiet. The house is very comfortable throughout. Sean met us at property and gave us a quick run down of the house. The information folder provided included "everything" you need to know about property and surrounding amenities. The enclosed front garden was perfect for our dog. Any enquries we had ( which were very few) were answered immediately. Sean and suzi were perfect hosts and we fully intend to rebook
