This charming town sits at the heart of Anglesey. Historically a market town, it still boasts a range of interesting stalls.

Admire the old buildings of Llangefni and shop in the excellent markets. Enjoy views of the island’s rugged countryside and relax in the local pubs and inns. Llangefni is close to the centre of Anglesey, so from here you can easily explore the island.

Head to the town hall and shop at the various markets and fairs. Every Thursday and Saturday the Town Market sells a wide variety of items, from home goods to plants. On the first Saturday of the month between March and December, buy select local produce at the Farmers Market. Browse the meats, seafood, vegetables and more, all sourced locally by award-winning producers. Try all of the samples and purchase your favourites.

Visit the Oriel Ynys Môn museum and art centre. The galleries change regularly, with several permanent exhibits. See the works of Charles Tunnicliffe, whose paintings of British wildlife are internationally renowned. View the world’s largest collection of works by Sir Kyffin Williams, a local to the area and a defining artist of 20th-century Wales. See the museum exhibits to learn about the island of Anglesey throughout history.

Explore the Dingle, a 25-acre (10-hectare) nature reserve just outside town. Follow the wooden boardwalk alongside the River Cefni, through a wooded valley formed in the last ice age. Watch for local wildlife, including rarities such as otters, adders, lizards and kingfishers. Find all the sculptures to reveal the poem Nant y Pandy, by local poet Rolant o Fôn.

Reach Anglesey by train, car or plane from Cardiff. Bus services do travel to Llangefni but these can be infrequent, making taxis popular. Dine at a number of pubs, cafés and restaurants in town.
