"Nice cosy little cabin accommodation with ensuite bathroom. Quiet room, reasonable sleep. Electric blankets were required to be used, but unfortunately one of the side (mine!) of the double electric blanket wasn't functioning. Normally we would have reported that to the proprietors but we were aware that the Hotel had closed for the night a few hours earlier and staff gone, so we put up with it.
Overall a comfortable stay for 1 night."
"The property presents as historic and elegant. The gardens, maintained by host Peter, are immaculate. Several espaliered apple trees still have fruit on them, in winter.
We were greeted by Peter and Georgia, who had asked about our arrival time so they might bake fresh bread (which indeed they did). Both were warm, informal and happy to chat for a few minutes. As promised they gave us some information about local attractions and eateries.
The property offers several beautifully furnished suites. Ours was a bit different because it had been occupied by resident nuns in the past: plainly furnished, utilitarian, focused more on function than aesthetic appeal. This was something of a drawback but we selected it because it had an oven and stove. It was immaculately clean throughout.
There were two two-seater couches, one in the kitchen and the other in the tv nook. Sadly, both were worn out and very uncomfortable.
The kitchen was well-equipped, with a good-sized fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle, crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils. Table and 4 chairs. Also supplied by our thoughtful hosts were cooking oil, salt and pepper, Gladwrap and foil.
The welcome package consisted of bacon and eggs, butter, jam, biscuits and cheese, milk and juice. They even left a gift of walnuts from their own tree!
The bed was a double, which was okay, but the timber foot made it uncomfortable for me at six foot two.
Despite these minor faults it was a pleasure to stay here, and I recommend it."
"We had a family Christmas in winter, and while it didn't snow it was cold weather. But the house was lovely and warm with the heat pump and the wood heater. Very comfortable and had everything you would want. Would highly recommend."
"The staff are kind, welcoming and everything you'd hope for when travelling to such a destination.
I came here for a recharge, and achieved it
Leah, and team were exceptional, I hope your next adventures are as good as mine."
"The house was cold but after using the fire, it warmed up quickly and retained the warmth. The property had not been cleaned well and some supplies for the fire were unavailable. Previous guests had used all matches and fire starters but after talking to the owner, this was sorted out very quickly and the owners very very attentive to other issues as they arose.
A deep clean was scheduled on our leaving the property, and the owner allowed us to check out late afternoon as a good will gesture.
We would happily stay again. "
