"Very nice and affordable stay at this old wooden house that used to be a shop. FYI: If you book double room you share the bathroom, shower and kitchen with one other double room. It was just us this time but the other room is across the hall so I'd expect very little noise from there. Breakfest is self-help but plentifull. There is sauna available for extra fee. We did not try it this time because we were too tired but I dare to recommend it anyway. Overall definitely worth the money."

Finnish summer house on a private island

Finnish summer house on a private island

10/10 Excellent
"Sehr schönes Haus auf einer Insel. Entsprach alles der Beschreibung (z.B. WLAN, Küchengeräte usw.)Die Betten waren sehr bequem. Und die Ruhe auf der Insel hat uns gut getan. Die Sauna haben wir sehr oft genossen. Die Vermieterin sprach Deutsch und war immer zu erreichen. Würden wir jederzeit wieder machen."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Lestijärvi?
The best area to stay in Lestijärvi is around Lake Lestijärvi itself, particularly in the vicinity of the Lestijärvi village.

This area is the heart of the municipality, offering convenient access to the lake and its surroundings. The village has essential services like a local shop and a few eateries, and the lakefront is a focal point for activities. It's a peaceful setting, great for those looking to unwind.

Couples looking for a tranquil escape will find the lakeside accommodation ideal. Many cottages and cabins offer private access to the lake, great for enjoying the views, swimming, or trying out a bit of fishing. It's a wonderful spot for quiet evenings and enjoying nature together.

Families will also appreciate staying near the lake. The shallow shores in some areas are suitable for children to paddle, and there are opportunities for gentle walks or cycling along the lake's edge.

The best time to visit Lestijärvi is during the summer months, from June to August, when the weather is warm and the days are long.

The extended daylight hours, characteristic of Finnish summers, mean you have plenty of time to explore the natural surroundings.

Families often find July particularly good for a visit. Many local events and activities are scheduled then, and the lake is at its warmest for water sports. The quiet surroundings provide a relaxing escape from city life.

For those who enjoy winter sports and the serene beauty of a snow-covered landscape, late January to March is also an excellent time.
