Galapagos Sunset Hotel

8/10 Good

"The location is perfect (ocean front) but it does get a bit loud in the evening until about midnight as there’s a bar right across the street. The rooms are clean and spacious. The A/C works perfectly. The breakfast is okay, nothing too special. The fruit wasn’t fresh and smoothie was watered down. The first 2 mornings we got the breakfast to go which was white bread with mayonnaise and a half a thin slice of ham and cheese, a juice box and an apple. A fresh pastry and I guess a juice box would have been better. Great there in this option but not what we expected. Would we stay here again? It’s a bit pricey compared to other options and we were hardly in the room so probably not. Service was good. We left a charger and they returned it. They’re also responsive on WhatsApp."

"Pros: Comfy beds, delicious breakfast, lovely rooftop and garden lounge space, snorkel equipment and bikes for rent, great location. There was no hot water in my shower when I first arrived, Angel came and fixed it right away. Cons: I was in the room right across from the kitchen and it can be a bit noisy as there isn't much sound proofing."

"The room is nice and clean and has good air conditioning and hot water. Location is excellent. The only bad experience I had wasn’t with the hotel itself but with the agency they use for guest accommodations. I contacted them about airport transport and was told to message their agency SUP Tours. They tried to charge $35 for a $3 taxi ride. When I told them this was very expensive I was sent a long disrespectful reply telling me I shouldn’t visit the Galapagos if I don’t have the budget for it. Completely unacceptable."
