Holiday Inn Express & Suites Ghent by IHG
8/10 Good
"I went to Belgium for the first time with my wife and kids from London. I drove all the way. Hotel staff was kind enough to offer me to park as soon I come. This allowed me.to park and go around city before our check in time. Room.was very spacious and very clean. We all had fantastic sleep. The only downside was, sofa bed made creaking noise when one moves. That should be fixed as that disturbs sleep. It didnt matter too much in the end because we were dead tired, but surely got noticed. Parking is spacious and easy. There is a tram 15 mins away which takes you to city centre. Overall we enjoyed our stay. Staff was wonderful. Would recommend."

Van der Valk Hotel Gent
2/10 Terrible
"Very bad stay. This hotel does NOT have a real aircondition as stated on their details. It’s rather a central fan that was not working and when I asked the receptionist they said it’s better just to open the window. You can imagine the nosie ang bugs when you leave the window open trying to get some sleep. The shower is an open area into the room - no door."

"One of the best hotels we have ever stayed at - creative, cool, beautifully placed in an amazing close to walk to downtown - it was truly exceptional, 100% recommend - we loved it!"

"Great location. Nice folks."

Getaway Gent
8/10 Good
"The character and cleanliness was amazing. Unfortunately we stayed in a recent heat wave and with no air conditioning it was hot but we were able to ask the front desk for an extra fan which was a life saver. Really good place to stay - quiet and easy to get everywhere. Would stay here again for sure despite the heat wave"

Courtyard By Marriott Ghent
10/10 Excellent
"Great room perfect after a long day out"

ibis Gent Centrum St-Baafs Kathedraal
6/10 Okay
"First of all … the staff were excellent, friendly, helpful and accommodating. Our room was a handicap room as requested. However it was tired looking. Marks on the walls, peeling paper on the headboard. Small queen bed not a full. Bathroom exhaust vent full of fluff as result it whistled. Shower drain not draining properly so your feet were in a puddle. Liquid soap dispensers in the shower too high for handicap reach. The Lounge/Breakfast room. The buffet breakfast (extra cost) was okay. But after that it becomes the Lounge with a good bar offering, but extremely limited food offerings throughout the day with the same menu at night. If you want a short stay hotel with friendly staff in a great location then the Ibis is fine."

Ghent Marriott Hotel
2/10 Terrible
"Very disappointing end to what could have been a good stay. The hotel’s location is excellent and the room itself was perfectly fine, which makes the poor service experience even more frustrating. The checkout interaction was frankly unacceptable. The front desk staff were rude, dismissive, and surprisingly argumentative over what should have been a simple guest query. Rather than listening or trying to help, the conversation became confrontational for no reason. Escalating the matter to the manager did not improve the situation—in fact, the same unhelpful and defensive attitude continued. What stood out most was the complete lack of customer service mindset. Mistakes or misunderstandings can happen anywhere, but professionalism, courtesy, and a willingness to resolve issues are the minimum one expects from hospitality staff, especially management. A hotel stay is judged not only by the room and location, but by how guests are treated. Unfortunately, the conduct of the staff at checkout left a very poor final impression, and based on that experience, I would not stay here again. And I recommend no one else does as well."
