First trip to the Berkshires and we wanted a spot with easy lake access as well as good access to many towns. This house had that, you just can’t walk anywhere from the house, or take a walk bc of the road it is on.
It is clean and well-appointed. Mattress in one bedroom is a bit wobbly, but other beds comfortable. So great to be able to bring dogs. It is not directly on a lake(have to cross the road), but does have easy access that is a 5 minute walk to a sweet little private beach with nice neighbors. The kayak, canoe and paddle board in the shed across the street are great amenities! The house is on a very busy road with constant traffic - including 18 wheelers. It makes it hard to sit outside and enjoy the trees, lake and nature. Kevin is a responsive host.

Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication
Waterfront house across a busy road
I must say I have mixed impression from our stay in the house. The house maintenance is impeccable. Everything is updated, working, sparkling clean and has the exact amount of kitchenware, spices, etc to make a dinner. Feels good to be inside. (The grill needs to be cleaned to produce a stronger flame). We also used a canoe on the lake, and it was perfect.
The description of the property slightly deviates from the actual set up, however. After reading it, it is hard to imagine a highway (rt 8) with 18-wheelers passing by at 50mph between the house and the dock every 5 minutes. At least we were not prepared for that. Probably a more accurate description would prepare us better.
I spent a delightful week at this adorable lake house. Our host, Kevin, could not have been more helpful. Check-in was a breeze and he was very responsive to texts whenever I had a question. The house is as presented and very comfortable and attractive. We love to cook, and the kitchen was well appointed. I was worried one would not be able to see Shaw Pond when the trees are in leaf, but there was a spectacular view! And we had a chance to take the (on site) Canoe for a spin. Very convenient to Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival!!!
One caveat - do not put the address in google! Follow Kevin's directions. The house is right off route 8. The driveway is a little dicey as it has suffered from rain storms, no doubt. But nice to be able to park in a garage.
Thanks Kevin and Jodi! I can hardly wait to come back!!!
Property was clean and had a very nice/large kitchen. Game room was a nice touch. You do have to cross a road to get to the water but it is literally across the street.
The house on Shaw Pond in Becket has all the conveniences anyone would need to fully enjoy themselves in the heart of the Berkshires. From a fully equipped kitchen, to watercraft and fishing gear, to spacious and comfortable bedrooms nestled in a cool corner of the woods, the home is the epitome of peace. We enjoyed how everything we wanted to do in the Berkshires was no more than 30 minutes away by car. But it was hard to tear ourselves from the pond--it was lovely. Thank you!
Had a lovely time at this lake house. The lake access was a plus and the house was well stocked with water accessories and food items. Otis is a short distance from Lee and Lenox providing easy Berkshire access. Having a garage to park the car in was also nice. The only downside is the relatively poor condition of the driveway / shared road the house is on. The neighborhood is made up of single lane dirt roads that have suffered from some wet weather. All in all would definitely recommend.
Our family (grandparents, couple, one teen) chose this delightful home for our stay. The owner was very welcoming and checked in right away. Two bathrooms, one adjacent to three bedrooms upstairs and another in the rec room, next to the Murphy bed. AC is available in all three bedrooms upstairs. Wifi was very good, and the first floor was great for cooking, eating, and socializing - doing games, watching TV (the TV is modern enough to be able to screen mirror with phones/computers). I would recommend using the garage spots for parking, as the driveway is quite sloped. The boat house is next to the lake, a short walk down a trail and across the street. All necessary equipment was provided. Kevin, the owner, has left a very helpful binder with accurate information about local restaurants, hikes, sights, and amenities. The proximity of the Big Y supermarket means that you do not need to bring foods with you. We are inclined to return and recommend this VRBO.
Easy to find, easy to access, provided instructions are great (a couple minor updates to the comprehensive instructions needed, but host responded immediately to questions). Exceptionally clean, seemingly recently renovated home, clearly loved by the family. Use of the kayaks and other amenities is a big plus - an early morning paddle on the calm lake is wonderful. If you have kids seems like a great place for rainy days with the recreation room (our kids were a bit old but would have spent all day playing pool and foosball a few years ago) We came up for tanglewood, reasonable easy to get to from here (23 minutes or so), good hiking nearby. Overall excellent. Minor downsides: if you're looking for total calm and quiet, note that the main road runs between the house and the waterfront, and there's a summer camp across the lake with loudspeakers to make announcements and trumpet in morning and bedtime. Frankly, it's kind of quaint and nostalgic if you had camp as a child. The truck traffic noise, though, is pretty steady and if you have windows open to sleep, it will wake you early. Not something the host has control over, so can't ding it and would definitely stay again for all the pros listed above, just a thing to be aware of if you're looking for pure isolation and quiet.
Kevin was a great host. The property was beautiful and Updated. All the linens and towels were clean and ready for us to use. He was great with communication and quick to respond to any message. Our pups had a wonderful place to stay with us and were completely welcomed. The best part was the view from the window in the family room. It is absolutely gorgeous with all the fall foliage and The lake. Would absolutely stay again
The place is very beautiful and cozy and located right across the lake. The house is well stocked and well equipped (canoe, kayak, fishing rods). Kevin, the host, was super responsive. We had a great time staying at his place. We will definitely look to rent here again next year.
This is a cozy little house with a great view of Shaw Pond.
The house has a spacious living room with a fireplace and a large window with a view of the pond. The kitchen is very large which makes it a good place for gathering. The bedrooms and beds are comfortable, and it is so nice that they are all made up , so no need to bring your own linens. There is one bathroom with good fixtures and a large size washer and dryer.
We truly enjoyed our stay. Clean, well appointed home with a yard, across from a lake and with a canoe and surf board.
Easy to get to everywhere in the Berkshires. Responsive owners Would stay again!
This is an AMAZING Lakeside getaway ♥️♥️♥️LOVE LOVE LOVE this *****SPACIOUS Newly Remodeled 3 BR house.

*A Shed lakeside Provides Most Amenities needed for fun & Relaxtion on their Private Dock🏊🏻♀️🌄 The house is located directly across from the lake and with an easily marked path on the side it takes you straight down to the shed.
If that’s too much , you can easily drive (literally 30 second drive) to the Boating Access Parking lot right next to the shed! Steps away. Also as an added **BONUS**!
There is a Public (very clean HANDICAP ACCESSIBLE)! Restroom 😀
I was able to have my aunt who is wheelchair bound come visit by the lakeside and have access to a restroom!!
The House itself was WELL equipped with everything we NEEDED & because of that the owner had the weekend remters cancel and we got a discount fir staying over this weekend 😀😀
THANKS 🙏🏻🙏🏻…KEVIN & Family for allowing us to enjoy this Beautiful Lake Side Home! We are having a peaceful and wonderful (well needed) vacation !
My husband and I stayed at Kevin's property 7/2/21-7/5/21 with our 2 boys and my mother in law. We had a wonderful time despite weather not agreeing with us. Kevin's home is spotless, brand new with all items necessary for a weekend getaway. Beds were comfortable, kitchen well equipped. There's a beautiful view from the living room/kitchen windows of shaw pond, which is right across the street. Down by the pond there is Kevin's shed, canoe, tiki torches, chairs, firepit with wood, picnic table which make for fun for the whole family. The surrounding town is also great with many things to do/ see. Kevin was very responsive and helpful answering every question we had very thoroughly. Overall a great experience and highly recommend for a peaceful little family trip.
Host was so amazing the house is so cute and clean.. the house is on a huge hill that you can't see in photos also not directly on the water you have to cross rt 8 to get to it. The town beach was absolutely gorgeous. I would definitely recommend staying here.
