Beautiful Location
The property is very well appointed, clean and beautifully located with clear views across the bay and into the West. Add a little sun and you get a perfect hideaway to relax and recharge. It is also easy to get around if you want to explore Kerry and West-Cork.

A little piece of heaven
This is our third stay in Rockwell and once again we had a wonderful holiday. On arrival the house was spotless and a most welcome coffee,milk,and biscuits awaited....just what we needed after a long journey. Cottage is exceptionally well equipped and the views are spectacular. It is perfectly situated for exploring both Beara Peninsula and Mizen Peninsula. Once again we were blessed with good weather.

Lovely holiday
The property was very good and everything we could have hoped for. A little upset that the bushes looking out to the sea were 6ft. high and obscured the view, together with a tree in need of some attention, nothing like in the pictures. Asking you to take the bins down a very steep drive every week would be too much for anyone with mobility problems. We are in our late sixties and really struggled, but we're not prepared to pay the property manager to be called out.

Thank you for your kind words about Rockwell Cottage. Corina the caretaker has spoken to me so that I can understand your other comments. The Welcome pack at the cottage clearly states that if you are not able to bring the refuse bin down the drive then you can contact her and she would arrange for it to be done. There has never been any charge for this and had you contacted her she would have willingly agreed to help you. I am sorry you were inconvenienced by the trees at the edge of the garden. We have been holidaying in Lauragh for at least 10 yrs so it's obvious how much we love it. It is a very quiet location but a great base to see around Beara Peninsula. This is our 2nd year staying in Rockwell and it is undoubtedly the best we have ever stayed in......absolutely spotless, well equipped, beautiful views, and that all Important peacefulness. We are already looking forward to next year.

Beautiful property
The property is beautifully equipped and is extremely comfortable. Lovely furniture and decorated, really comfortable beds, we all sleep well. The design brings in lots of light and great for sitting out looking at the amazing fews. The kitchen has everything you need. Sky channels on TV great WiFi and well heated Location is perfect only approx 10 mins from kenmare and local attractions all over this peninsula, hikes, low level walks on beara way, great local bar, helens bar for food & drink and alai Josies restaurant. Highly recommend this property and Location absolutely beautiful.

Rockwell Cottage is a fantastic rental house. The property is very clean and comfortable with a well-equipped kitchen and really generous living space. The bedrooms are a great size with comfortable mattress and plenty of storage space. The house is an excellent spot from which to explore all that Beara has to offer. I would highly recommend this property to anyone wishing to visit the Kerry/Cork area. We absolutely love visiting every year.

The house was perfect place to relax. it had spectacular views over Kenmare Bay with stunning sunsets. The house is well situated to explore the Bears Peninsula and the Ring of Kerry. The house was well kept and very clean. I would certainly think about returning for another holiday

A fabulous house with fantastic views all around. Spotless with everything you could possibly need. Very smooth communication regarding payment, location, keys etc. A truly tranquil area with beautiful flora and fauna. And my husband says the best pint of guinness in Ireland at Helens on pier. Superb staycation
This was our third visit to Rockwell as we just love the house and the location on the glorious Beara peninsula. The house is so comfortable and well-equipped...we enjoyed cooking for ourselves in the spacious kitchen and eating at a table with one of the best views in Ireland!! Elaine made all the communications and instructions very easy for us and was contactable at any time for advice or assistance. I highly recommend this property for anyone wishing to tour Kerry/Cork. The house is within an hour's driving to Killarney and the lovely town of Kenmare (for good restaurants and shopping) is only 20 mins away. Helen's Bar is a 10 min drive or a 1/2 hour walk from the house and does great food and excellent Guinness. Can't wait to visit again.

A Week in West Cork
We had a really nice time staying at Rockwell Cottage.It was a very comfortable house with everything you could need .We cooked our meals every evening.Loved having the washing and drying facilities.Views from open plan sitting area were gorgeous.We didnt get the weather to sit outside but plan to visit again..Highly recommended.Elaine is the caretaker and communication was excellent.Thank you Elaine.

Fantastic visit
The property is on the coast road, which is a narrow road. The view once you get there is amazing. The house had everything we needed for our trip and was as seen in photos. Shop before you get to the property as the nearest supermarket is in Kenmare. If you want a quiet place to stay then this is for you.

This was our second visit to Rockwell and it's even more beautiful than I remembered. The house is wonderful...with an unbeatable location and so clean!! The house has everything you need for a home from home getaway...the kitchen is well-equipped..we cooked at home several times! Helen's bar in nearby Killmakilogue (30 min walk or 5 min drive) does the best crab claw sandwich and excellent pint of Guinness..not to be missed! Beautiful Glanmore lake is nearby...the gorgeous Derreen gardens..all on your doorstep. Thanks to Margaret and Dave for another lovely stay. We will be back for sure.

5+STAR - Stunning Cottage
Loved it - last stayed here 4 years ago and it is better. Thought the new curtains gave it a much more homely feel. Really enjoyed our week here, peace, tranquility, amazing views and everything you need. Whilst we loved it and are okay with its location, other people may find it somewhat remote, but we adore being out in the middle of nowhere. With stunning views like that from the floor to ceiling windows, we were happy to enjoy the peace, the views, watching the weather change, cloud formations and colour changes in the evening particularly mesmerising. The cottage itself is very spacious, clean and modern but still retains an air of character. The modern high gloss kitchen is roomy and more than adequate for a holiday, it's certainly bigger than our kitchen at home. The bed in the master bedroom is comfortable (there was only 2 of us) and the en suite is very welcome. Waking up in the master bedroom to the views from the floor to ceiling windows so you get an uninterrupted view of the Wild Atlantic way and mountains behind, is certainly a fabulous way to wake up in the morning. We would happily return to this cottage again in a few years time, as we did this time. What people may need to know is that the water from the tap is via a bore hole and we personally preferred to buy bottled water from the local supermarket but we understand the water is safe to drink. The drainage and sewage go into a septic tank which is perfectly okay but you must be wary to only use toilet tissue; baby wipes should not be put down the loo here, nor must you use bleach products (such as in sterilising tablets) as this upsets the ecology of the septic tank. For the visitor though, this does not detract in any way, you simply need to be mindful that it's not mains water and drainage - everything else works as if it is mains, it's a matter of being thoughtful. Environmentally, it's sound! There is everything you need, we chose to cook 3 times, the cooker works fine, there is a washing machine, fridge, microwave, dishwasher, kettle and freezer. The owner thoughtfully left some dishwasher tablets but you will need your own laundry detergent of course. I put 4 laundry tabs into a plastic tub and put in my luggage so that I ensured I had my preferred brand due to sensitive skin. It's a great place, enjoy your holiday! Turn left at the bottom of the cottage's driveway to Helen's Bar - the seafood platter was great! The locals are really friendly.

Surpassed Expectations
We have booked through HomeAway before and have never been dissatisfied. Rockwell Cottage looked like our perfect holiday home and we were not disappointed. Located on the Wild Atlantic Way, it offers total seclusion with outstanding views across the bay. It is 13 miles out from Kenmare, a lovely little town with everything you might want on a holiday; pubs, restaurants, entertainment, grocery & gift shops and outdoor activities. The cottage is very well looked after and is fully equipped; the spacious kitchen has all appliances, plenty of crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils, pots and pans etc. The dining area looks out to Kenmare Bay and the patio area is also accessed from here. The lounge area is open-plan and spacious with a great variety of seating, tv and DVD player and music system and a lovely wood-burner. The bedrooms are roomy; one has an en-suite shower room and, if you leave the curtains open, you will wake up to views across the bay without getting out of bed! A superb holiday home, and location, in a stunning part of the world.

Stunning property!
Where to start!! This house was amazing on so many fronts: firstly, the view from the house was absolutely stunning- looking across at the MacGillicuddy Reeks and Ireland's highest mountain - the view was ever changing; secondly, the house was so well equipped and spotlessly clean - loved the openness and space of the house, great beds and generous bedrooms and a lovely kitchen - very nice indeed; finally, the location was superb. The house was very accessible to Kenmare but also to all the many other attractions that Beara has to offer, such as lovely Gleninchaquin Park, Kilcatherine peninsula, the brilliant cable-car over to Dursey etc.. Definitely one of the loveliest and most enjoyable holiodays I've booked through Homeaway - highly recommended!! We will definitely return! Thanks Margaret and David!

Private out-of-the-way modernized cottage with great views
My husband and I really felt at home at this beautiful updated cottage. We watched whales in the harbor from the dining room table. It is up on a hill so great views of Kenmare bay. The roads getting to the cottage are typical narrow, Irish country roads, so we just took it slow and it was fine. Took us about 20-30 minutes to drive to the SuperValu or Lidl in Kenmare. We purchased bottled water to be safe since the house is on well water, as recommended by the host. The outdoor seating was great, it was clean inside and out. Had everything we needed: laundry facilities, fridge, freezer, range, WiFi, nice bathrooms and bedrooms. Would definitely stay here again if we return to the area. Loved this less touristy area of the coast. Property mangers were fantastic! Thank you!

Schöner Aufenthalt in einem perfekten Haus
Das Haus liegt in einer einzigartigen Traumlage mit Blick auf die Bucht von Kenmare und das gegenüberliegende Ufer. Das Haus ist sehr schön und modern gebaut. Es bietet mit seinen großen Fenstern nicht nur einen besonderen Ausblick auf das Wasser, sondern auch viel Tageslicht. Die Ausstattung des Hauses lässt keine Wünsche offen. Gemeinsam mit Freunden verbrachten wir eine wunderbare Zeit im Rockwell Cottage. Das Cottage liegt in einer wunderschönen ruhigen Umgebung mit Sicht auf das Meer und die gegenüberliegende Uferlandschaft. Der grosszügige Wohnraum, die Schlafzimmer und die Küche sind komfortabel und mit allen notwendigen technischen Geräten eingerichtet. Wir fühlten uns sofort zu Hause und haben an den verschiedenen Aussensitzplätzen mit herrlicher Aussicht. Spot for minkwhale watching
Es gibt viele Gründe, dieses Objekt wirklich zu empfehlen. 1. Super Lage auf Beara, in Schlagdistanz zu Helen's Bar, in der Nähe von Kenmare und Castletownbere mit Maccarthys. 2. Jede Menge Wandermoeglichkeiten für alle Fitnesslevel, besonders die Lighthouse Loop auf Bere war toll. 3. Wunderbarer Panoramablick aus Haus und Garten auf den Kenmare River, wir haben Minkwale gesehen 4. Gute Ausstattung im Haus, alles funktioniert einwandfrei 5. Schneller und freundlicher Kontakt mit Liam, dem Vermieter 6. Bequeme und beheizbare Betten, auch wenn wir das gar nicht benötigt haben. 7.Dies, das und Jenes, jedenfalls aber nix zu meckern. Perfekter Ausgangspunkt für Beara-Urlaub
Unser zweiter Aufenthalt in diesem Haus hat uns genauso gut gefallen wie letztes Mal. Der Ausblick auf die Kenmare-Bay und das dahinterliegende Bergpanorama ist so schön, dass wir erstmal die Sofas zur Fensterfront umgedreht haben. Hier haben wir jedes Wetter genossen. Alle paar Minuten ändert bläst der kräftige Wind Wolken herbei und wieder fort und der ständige Wechsel von Sonne und Schauern hat uns jeden Tag zahlreiche wunderschöne Regenbögen beschert. Besonders gefallen haben uns diesmal wieder Helen's Bar wo man so gemütlich, gut und günstig frischen Fisch und Guinness bekommt, und schöne Wanderungen bei Ardgroom, Eyeries und Garnish. Und nun denken wir schon drüber nach was wir nächstes Mal machen ;-)

Das Haus hat eine gute Lage mit schönem Meeeblick. Es bietet in großen Räumen viel Platz und ist angenehm hell durch die vielen Fenster. Wir haben aber auch einige deutliche Mängel festgestellt, und zwar: - Im Küchenbereich: Herd mit abgebrochenen Bedienknöpfen sowie einer stark zerkratzten Platte und nicht funktionierendem Licht über dem Arbeitsfeld. Bratpfanne total lockerer Stiel, die nur durch Eigenreparatur gebrauchsfähig wurde. Die Pfannen waren unsauber und alt. Es gab keine Glas- und Müslischalen, keine normalen Biergläser. Ebenso gab es keine Schalen zum Anrichten und Servieren. Der Salz- und der Pfefferstreuer waren defekt, so dass wir keinen hatten. Im Badbereich: Die Toilettendeckel passten nicht zur Toilette, so dass sie schief aufsaßen und wackelten, was sehr unangenehm war. Bad und Dusche wurden teilweise ungereinigt vorgefunden. - Allgemein: Die Fenster waren undicht, so dass auch bei geschlossenen Fenstern Insekten, vor allem Mücken ins Haus kamen. Wegen der Mücken konnten wir die Fenster ohnehin nie zum Lüften öffnen. Unseres Erachtens müssten hier dringend Fliegengitter installiert werden. Wohnzimmerbereich: Der Rüttler am Kamin ließ sich fast nicht mehr bewegen. Bemerken möchten qir noch, dass die Hausverwalter auf diese Kritikpunkte sehr unsachlich reagiert haben. Sie führen ein internes Bewertungssystem für die Gäste, das u. E. ein reines Suppressionsinstrument gegen Kritik ist. Laut den Anweisungen der Hausmappe müssen Gäste trotz im Preis inbegriffener Endreinigung bei Abreise einige Dinge erledigen, die u. E. zur Endreinigung gehören.

Our only request is - not to leave the dishwasher full of dirty crockery and to please put all used bedlinen and towels into the bathroom on day of departure - I do not think this is above and beyond what a normal respectable guest would do. Guests are our top priority and as you will note we also have written in this folder: If replace/fix for you.

Nice cottage with a fantastic view!
Nice cottage with a fantastic view on the Kenmare bay. A lot of space outside for playing with the Children! Quiet place, nice equipment and good location to visit the ring of Beara & Kerry.

Wunderschönes Haus mit toller Aussicht!
Das Haus ist sehr geräumig, gemütlich und sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtet. Es ist einfach alles für einen schönen Urlaub vorhanden. Die Aussicht auf die Kenmare Bay ist grandios, insbesondere bei Abendsonne.

Wunderschönes Cottage mit traumhafter Aussicht
Wir waren eine Woche hier und haben das gemütliche Ferienhaus sehr genossen. Der offene Wohn-und Küchenbereich bietet durch seine schönen großen Fenster einen traumhaften Panoramablick in die wunderschöne grüne Landschaft und die weite Meeresbucht von Kenmare. Die Inneneinrichtung und die Ausstattung der Zimmer sind sehr gut. Absolut ruhige Lage für einen erholsamen Urlaub. Herzlichen Dank für alles !!!
