I had a nice view from my window over a park and some parts of town. It was within walking distance of the main part of town and other tourist areas. I went for breakfast around 8.30 and found that there were not a lot of choices for the continental breakfast. I also had to ask for a bowl and spoon, few cups left and food not replenished.

The Mercure is a nice property. The room was clean and the AC was very quiet. However the service in the restaurant was marginal and VERY slow.

This property was great. As a female travelling alone, I didn’t feel extremely safe due to the lay out of the building. I felt it was a bit too open and easily accessible from the street. The room was clean, tidy and plenty big enough for me. Double glazing of the windows would have been great as noise from the street was quite loud.

The staff were extremely friendly and helpful the room was large and the bed was extremely comfortable. The room was cleaned every day. Would highly recommend this hotel to stay

The foxtel didn’t work, we ran out of hot water in the shower and the shower was to small, I’m not a big person and I had to stand sideways to shower

Construction being done to property woken at 7am by power tools. View from the window was a skip bin. Window leaked. Bathroom was tiny exhaust fan was filthy. Booked a king size room for 2, only 1 chair, only 1 towel rail. Bed was too close to the wall, had trouble moving on that side. Very, very disappointed.

The rooms were overall good. The biggest disappointment was the response from the manager when she was alerted to the fact that the window did not close properly , allowing noise from front street in. This was the second visit in our 13 day stay in Tasmania and this particular room was booked for a special occasion at a higher rate. We moved late into the night to a smaller room, while a refund was provided, the inconvenience of moving everything late at night was never acknowledged , this left us feel very disappointed.

I am dispirited to hear your stay was disrupted by road noise because of the window, im happy to hear after the phone call to myself that my staff member did follow through with the refund, and an alternate choice between 2 room types, i do apologise for the inconvenience of the room move. Maintenance did tend to the room the next day to address the issue. I am happy to see, regardless of the situation, you enjoyed the rooms. Thank you again for sharing your experience.

I’ll be staying again
The hotel while fairly blah in architectural merit is well maintained and has an up to date contemporary decor and feel. The room was clean, bed comfortable and very clean. The restaurant was excellent both in ambiance, service and the menu. Food was excellent. Location is excellent with everything I needed to do an easy walk. Parking seemed good and road noise was ok.

Lovely room with balcony overlooking the park. Very pleasant and helpful staff. Also enjoyed dinner and breakfast in the restaurant. A very convenient location, an easy walk to the football.

I was very pleased with my dinner in the restaurant and the staff were excellent. Didn't have to wait too long for the food to arrive, it was nicely presented and tasted good as well. The chocolate brownie in particular was very good. I was not so impressed with breakfast. The hot food was not that hot, and looked like it had been sitting awhile, on arriving I wasn't told I could order a freshly cooked egg from the chef, which i would have preferred. The fruit and bread selection was very good, the cereal selection could be improved by adding a muesli or similar. I also noted that options that were available for in room breakfast didn't seem available for restaurant dining, which I would have expected. The room was lovely, very clean and tastefully decorated, nice view of the park and not too much traffic noise. The bed was comfortable - nice addition of a bath in the room although I didn't use. Love the way the hand wash, body lotion, shampoo, conditioner and show gel were presented. Overall not as bad stay except for breakfast, and I must say for such a well known brand I would have expected better considering the amount you pay to stay there.
