Very steep driveway unsuitable for elderly to access.

This property is set on top of a huge hill with only stairs to access rooms no lifts wouldn’t recommend to elderly or anybody with mobility issues

Dated,saw a good few cockroaches and earwigs. Loud as the cleaners voices travelled to rooms from early in the morning when they were in the atrium kitchen area. Could hear other guests loudly too because of the set up of the building, Up a very very steep hill- worth noting if any mobility issues. It was fine for the price we paid and had what we needed but it’s needing attention to detail.

The room was clean and comfortable. The hotel set up a little strange, being a hotel behind another hotel, and having to walk up stairs to reception.

Good location
Great location, spacious room. Hotel is 500 metres away from restaurants which is convenient to walk to instead of driving. A good place to stay when in Launceston.

Happy to have book this place
I was not sure what to expect but I was delighted to check into a room that is clean, comfortable and has a beautiful view. Was really happy with everything and communication was great. The only downside was I had to carry my luggage up 2 flight of stairs and it was hard when you travel alone and had a heavy luggage. If I knew, I would request for ground floor. But other than that, I am pretty happy and would definitely recommend this place.

Not my first stay at Areca Launceston - this property, & the wonderful Waratah on York it is attached to, have become my first choice for accommodation in Launceston. Great location, friendly staff & sensational views from the hillside location. As a single female traveller, I always feel safe at this location & walking around the area.

Parking area is a little limiting, the larger 4x4's would really struggle. The room was extremely comfortable and absolutely could not fault it. The room rate was exceptional for a kingsize bed. I knew that the whole property was on a steep slope and was glad that we didn’t have too far to walk to reception. Upon checking in, the lovely lady couldn't have possibly done any more for us, as we had called ahead to inform her that we were going to be delayed with our arrival. She remained after her closing time for us. We highly recommend and will definitely stay again, although we will book for more than 1 night 😊

Reception staff were very welcoming .The hotel is on an extremely steep location so I think if you are old or have little kids this maybe a problem.The accommodation was ok but not amazing ok for one night

Great location and parking available. Clean, could use a few more amenities like a shower cap, laundry facilities, microwave in common area (was only for staff), etc. There weren’t many restaurants or shops near the accomodation so you do need to find food, often a block or two away.

Nice stay but not perfect.
The room was very nice, but I have taken a star away due to: - no reception on Sunday so nowhere to store bag - on an extreme hill, so bad for someone walking everywhere - I really don't like above-head showers where it only falls vertically from above. As someone fat, I can't clean the lower half of my body.

Highly recommend
This was our second stay at Areca and it was as good as we remembered. Bed was very comfortable, one of the most comfortable we have encountered in accommodation. Love the bathroom, great shower. Beautiful view of Launceston from our room. Highly recommend staying here.
