Welcome to Emerald Square! We didn't think Lansing had enough hip, unique short term rental options, so we've set out to create some!

We have a very strict no smoking policy inside the home. If you need to smoke, please do so outside. We advertise a no smoking space to guests and want to be able to honor our word. A $200 fee will be charged to any guests that are found to be smoking on site.

We stayed over Christmas and used the well stocked kitchen for a dinner for 8. The dinning room table was perfect for Christmas dinner! The king size beds were comfortable and there was more than enough space to spread out. Loved the walkability to the Blue Owl (amazing coffee shop) and other shops/ restaurants. Looking forward to coming back without snow!

Read the review

We never stayed at this property. Upon arrival, we found other guests staying there. Because there are fees which they did not refund, I am out nearly $900 due to their mistake (which they promptly admitted). So, cannot speak to items such as cleanliness, as the house was dirty due to the current residents. The location is poor and the house in the photo appears much brighter in color than it did in person. In addition, even though I did not stay here, I continue to get automated (I am guessing) emails about trash day, check out, etc. I do want to point out that, when I contacted the manager about the problem of people living in the house we had rented, he was polite, prompt to admit their error, and immediately agreed to a refund. However, the refund doesn't represent the total amount I spent, so I'm a VERY dissatisfied VRBO customer.

Unmet potential

The place hasn't been kept up on the outside. We pulled up to overflowing trash with lots of bugs in front of the house. The door was open when we arrived and we couldn't access the key to use the front door.House keeping supposedly just left but the place really needed a deep clean. The vents were dirty, mirrors looked like kids just brushed theirs teeth, and worst of all mouse droppings in the kitchen. The attic had a wet towel on the futon. There was trash in the basement chairs. The back deck was messy too.Then there were no pots and pans or coffee maker. I had to reach out for someone to come and deal with these issues. My family had to cleab and make do sine we were ob a tight time line for our event. The Master didn't have a blanket so that was an issue whenbwe webt to settle in.There were other problems but those were the most dire.I would've tried to be more positive but the biggest issue is that when a coffee maker was dropped off someone entered the property without us knowing and we were there. That gave my mom anxiety because we were a house full of women and children.I understand the house was redone and they did a great job conceptually. I think they need a better cleaning and maintenance system since they just moved the trash next door.I have plenty of pictures and for all of thet they never offered a discount for our trouble.
