Flood bank by the River Witham The major water courses through the Fens are contained by high flood banks which prevent the low farmland flooding.

River Witham east of Langrick Bridge According to the OS 1:25,000 scale map the flood banks are 5 metres above sea level while the surrounding farmland is about 2.5 metres. The water level must have been about 4 metres.

Looking across the river from one flood bank to the other The water level in the river is about 2 metres above the surrounding farmland and is controlled by a sluice gate and lock in Boston. See 416479 and 777322. A quiet and pleasant boating route from Lincoln to Boston, there are only 4 locks to negotiate on the 36 mile journey.

Will stay here again. No parking outside the property, but there is a car park which is to pay for. Everything you need in the apartment. Only downside was that there was a rancid smell coming from the kitchen , which made you feel sick. So sprayed perfume all over it. Wasn't enough forks to feed ...
