Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Lamadrid?
For a truly authentic and convenient experience in Lamadrid, the best area to stay is within the village centre itself.

This compact village is located in the Cantabrian countryside, with the River Nansa flowing nearby. The main street, Calle La Iglesia, runs through the heart of Lamadrid, connecting the historic parish church of San MartĆn to the general store and a couple of traditional eateries. It's a place where daily life unfolds at a gentle pace, offering a real sense of local culture.

Couples seeking a tranquil escape will find the village centre ideal. You're perfectly placed for leisurely strolls along the riverbanks or exploring the surrounding green hills. The quiet evenings allow for peaceful relaxation, and you're just a short drive from the stunning beaches of PechĆ³n and San Vicente de la Barquera for day trips.

Families will also appreciate staying in the village centre. The calm environment means children can enjoy the open spaces and experience rural life, with plenty of opportunities for outdoor activities like cycling or gentle walks.
When is the best time to go to Lamadrid?
The best time to visit Lamadrid is during the summer months, from June to September, when the weather is warm and sunny, making it ideal for enjoying the beaches and outdoor activities.

During this period, the average temperatures range from 20Ā°C to 25Ā°C, great for swimming, sunbathing, and exploring the natural beauty of the region. The days are long, offering plenty of daylight for sightseeing and hiking in the nearby Picos de Europa National Park. This is also when most local festivals and events take place, adding to the cultural experience.

For those who prefer a quieter holiday with pleasant weather, the shoulder months of May and October are also a good option. The temperatures are milder, around 15Ā°C to 18Ā°C, and there are fewer crowds.
